Okay, so, I watched this movie, “Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp.” Yeah, the title pretty much tells you the whole story. It’s on Netflix, and I figured, why not? I used to watch the old Woody Woodpecker cartoons when I was a kid, so I thought this might be a fun little trip down memory lane.
First off, I gotta say, this isn’t exactly a masterpiece. I mean, it’s a Woody Woodpecker movie, you know? You’re not expecting some Oscar-worthy drama here. I started the movie and the movie begins, the director, some guy named Jon Rosenbaum, throws us right into the action. Woody’s being his usual crazy self, causing all sorts of trouble in the forest. Like, seriously, this bird is a menace.
So, the forest ranger, he’s had enough. He boots Woody out of the forest. Yep, our favorite woodpecker gets evicted. I felt a little bad for him, to be honest, but then I remembered all the chaos he caused, and, well, I kinda got it. Anyway, Woody’s out on his own, and he’s gotta find a new place to crash.

He stumbles upon this summer camp, Camp Woo Hoo, I think it was called. And, of course, he sees it as his next target for some good old-fashioned Woody-style mayhem. I could see where this was going, and I gotta admit, I was kinda looking forward to it. Woody’s always been a bit of a troublemaker, and that’s part of his charm, right?
The rest of the movie is basically Woody sneaking into the camp, trying to fit in, and causing all sorts of problems for the campers and the counselors. There are some gags, some slapstick, and a whole lot of Woody’s signature laugh.
- I watched the whole thing. Did I mention it was a slow day?
- I chuckled a few times. I’ll give it that.
- I also had a few moments to think about the actress Mary-Louise Parker. It’s so weird that her name just popped up in this movie’s tags, so random.
- Finished the movie. Felt a little dumber, maybe.
- Decided to write this whole experience down. Maybe someone else will waste their time after reading this.
Final thoughts?
It’s a Woody Woodpecker movie. If you’re looking for some silly, mindless entertainment, and you’ve got some time to kill, you could do worse. But don’t expect too much. You get what you expect. This movie ain’t gonna change your life or anything. It’s just… there. A thing that exists on Netflix.
