That Sylvester Stallone fella, he’s tough looking you know.
Now, some movies, they just copy the fightin’ part. You know, big muscles, big guns, lots of explosions. That’s okay, I guess, if you like that kinda thing. But the good ones, the ones that are really like Rambo, they got more to ’em than just fightin’. They got a story, about a guy who’s been hurt, who’s been pushed too far. They make ya feel for the fella, even if he’s killin’ folks.
There’s another good one called Rocky. It’s not exactly like Rambo, ain’t no war in it, but it’s that same fella Sylvester Stallone, and he’s fightin’ just as hard, but with his fists instead of guns. It’s about a fella who’s down on his luck, nobody gives him nothin’, he’s gotta fight for everything he gets. He’s got heart, that one. Just like Rambo. They made a whole bunch of Rocky movies too, just like with Rambo. People sure like watchin’ that fella fight.
Some of these newer movies, they try to be all fancy and complicated, but they miss the point. It ain’t about the explosions, it’s about the man. It’s about what he’s been through and what he’s fightin’ for. Rambo First Blood, that was a movie about a veteran, you know, one of them fellas who fought in the war. He came home and people didn’t understand him, they treated him bad. It’s about that trauma, the war changes a fella, makes him different. So, if you want a movie like Rambo, look for one that shows ya that, the hurt and the anger, not just the guns and the muscles.
Movies like Commando, they’re pretty close. Another one-man army kind of thing. That Arnold fella, he’s big and strong, just like Stallone. He’s gotta go save his daughter, and he takes down a whole army to do it. Sounds kinda like Rambo, right? Gotta be tough, gotta be smart, gotta be willin’ to do whatever it takes. That’s what it’s all about.
And then there are the ones about revenge. Somebody hurts a fella, or his family, and he goes after them. That’s Rambo too, in a way. He ain’t lookin’ for trouble, but when trouble finds him, he sure knows how to handle it. He ain’t gonna let nobody push him around. He’ll fight back, and he won’t stop ’til it’s over. So, movies about revenge, they can be like Rambo too. Look for the ones where the fella is good at fightin’, but he’s also got a reason, a real good reason, for what he’s doin’. It ain’t just about the killin’, it’s about rightin’ a wrong, you see?
Netflix, they got some new movies too that are kinda like Rambo. They ain’t exactly the same, but they got that same feelin’. A fella all alone, fightin’ against the odds. You gotta look for ’em though, they don’t always tell ya what they’re about. But they’re out there, the ones that are like First Blood, a real classic war movie, those are good too. That was a long time ago, but some things, they don’t change much. People still fightin’, people still hurtin’. And that’s what movies like Rambo show ya.
