Alright, alright, let me tell ya ’bout this Trevor fella, the one they had on that TV show. Trevor Noah, yeah, that’s the name. Folks been talkin’ ’bout him, so I figured I’d chime in, you know?
Now, I ain’t no fancy TV critic or nothin’. I just watch what I watch, and if it makes me laugh, it’s good. If it don’t, well, then it ain’t. This Trevor guy, he was on that Daily Show after that Jon fella left. Big shoes to fill, they said.
First off, the fella can talk, that’s for sure. He does all these different voices, like he’s been everywhere and met everyone. Heard him do some funny accents, made me chuckle a bit. He seems like a nice young man, you know, the kind you wouldn’t mind havin’ over for some sweet tea and biscuits.
- He’s easy on the ears, that’s what I’m sayin’. Pleasant to listen to.
- He tells stories, makes you feel like you’re right there with him. Folks like that, bein’ able to relate.
They say his show wasn’t a big hit, some folks did anyways. Said it wasn’t as good as when that Jon fella was doin’ it. But I say, the boy tried. He put in the work. And he made me laugh sometimes, and that’s more than I can say for some of them other fellas on TV. You know, the ones with all the yelling and cussin’. This Trevor, he ain’t like that. He keeps it clean, mostly.
Now, I went and saw him do one of them stand-up shows, the kind where it’s just him and a microphone. Stand-up comedy, they call it. It was long, I’ll tell ya that. Took him a while to get goin’, but once he did, it was alright. Not fall-out-of-your-chair funny, but good, clean fun. Didn’t have to cover my ears or nothin’. Some of them comedians, they just go on and on with the dirty words, makes you blush somethin’ fierce. Not this Trevor. He’s got more respect than that, it seems.
He was on that Daily Show for a good while, I reckon. People got used to him bein’ there, even if they didn’t always agree with what he said. But that’s the way things are these days, ain’t it? Everyone’s got an opinion, and they ain’t afraid to share it. And that’s fine, long as they’re respectful about it. And Trevor, he mostly was.
They say he’s done with that Daily Show now. Moved on to somethin’ else, I guess. Good for him, I say. He’s a young fella, got a lot of life left to live. He’ll do alright, I reckon. He’s got that somethin’ special, that way of makin’ people laugh without havin’ to be mean or nasty. And in this world, that’s a rare thing, let me tell ya.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to watch, somethin’ that won’t make you cringe or feel ashamed, give this Trevor Noah fella a try. He might just surprise ya. He ain’t perfect, mind you, but who is? He’s just a fella tryin’ to make folks laugh, and there ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. Not in my book, anyways. He tells good stories, he’s got a way with words, and he seems like a decent young man. And that’s enough for me. Good performances, yes sir.
I hear tell that people don’t pay as much attention to them late-night shows as they used to. Too much other stuff to watch, I suppose. But I still like ’em, sometimes. It’s nice to have someone tell ya what’s goin’ on in the world, even if it’s just for a little while. And if they can make you laugh while they’re doin’ it, well, that’s even better. And that’s what this Trevor fella did, best as he could. And he did alright by me.
I hear that his shows can be long, from one and a half hours to three hours long. That is a long time. You can find out more on his website, they say. I ain’t got no computer myself, but my grandson does. Maybe I’ll get him to look it up for me. See when he’s gonna be on TV again.
