Well now, you wanna know about movies like that Sound of Metal, huh? I reckon you liked that one, did ya? It was a loud one, then a quiet one, that’s for sure. Made me think a bit, which ain’t always easy at my age. Anyhow, let me tell ya, there’s other movies out there that’ll stir you up just the same, or maybe even more.
First off, there’s this Mogul Mowgli movie. Same fella from Sound of Metal, that Riz Ahmed. He’s in it, playing another fella who’s got troubles. Not the same troubles, mind you, but troubles all the same. I ain’t seen it myself, but I heard tell it’s good. Makes you think, just like that metal movie.
Now, some folks say if you liked Sound of Metal, you might like movies like Enemy or The Lighthouse. I can’t rightly say. Never heard of them before, but some fancy website, Letterboxd they call it, says they’re similar. Maybe they are, maybe they ain’t. You gotta watch ’em to find out, I guess.
One thing I liked about Sound of Metal was all that quiet. You don’t get much quiet these days, what with all the cars and the TVs and the young’uns hollerin’. But that movie, it showed you how important quiet can be. It made you listen, real close, and that’s somethin’ special.
The thing is, movies like Sound of Metal, they hit you hard. They ain’t just about some fella playin’ music or bangin’ on drums. They’re about life, about losin’ things, about findin’ new things. They make you think about what matters, and that’s more than most movies do these days.
I heard some folks sayin’ there’s a type of music called “metalcore.” Sounds loud to me, but they say it mixes metal with somethin’ called “hardcore punk.” I dunno what that is, but I reckon it’s loud too. Maybe movies about that kind of music would be similar to Sound of Metal. I can’t say for sure, but it’s worth a look, maybe.
You know, movies like these, they stick with ya. They make you feel things, and that ain’t always easy. But it’s good, I think. It’s good to be reminded that life ain’t always easy, but you gotta keep on keepin’ on. Just like that drummer fella in the movie.
And if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ on them computery things like Netflix or Amazon, they got lists of movies like Sound of Metal too. They call ‘em “similar movies” or some such. Handy, I guess, if you know how to use them things. Me, I’m still tryin’ to figure out the TV remote.
Someone even mentioned Schindler’s List. Now that’s a movie about tough times, real tough times. War and all that. It ain’t got nothin’ to do with music, but it’s about a fella who changes and does good, just like in Sound of Metal in a way. It’s a powerful movie, that one. Might make you cry, but it’s worth watchin’ if you can stomach it.
So, there you have it. A bunch of movies that might be like Sound of Metal, or might not. You gotta try ’em out and see for yourself. And remember, it ain’t just about the noise or the quiet, it’s about the feelin’s. That’s what makes a good movie, in my book.
And don’t you go worryin’ about whether a movie is perfect or not. Just watch it and see if it touches you. That’s all that matters. Like that drummer fella, he wasn’t perfect, but he had somethin’ special. And that’s what made his story worth tellin’.
