Well, hello there, y’all! Let me tell ya, if you’re lookin’ for some movies like that Mummy Returns, you’ve come to the right place. That movie, with all them scary mummies and Brendan Fraser runnin’ around, it was somethin’ else, wasn’t it? I remember watchin’ it with my grandkids, and even them little whippersnappers got a kick outta it.
So, you want more movies like that, huh? Movies with that kinda adventurin’ and spooky stuff? I got ya covered. Let’s see now, where do I start?
Movies Full of Adventure and Maybe Some Mummies Too
First off, if you liked The Mummy Returns, you gotta watch the first one, The Mummy (1999). That’s where it all started, ya know? Same fella, Brendan Fraser, and that pretty Rachel Weisz, they go traipsin’ around the desert and, wouldn’t ya know it, they wake up a mummy! It’s got everything – action, laughs, even a little bit of romance, though I ain’t one for that mushy stuff.
Then there’s that Indiana Jones fella. Oh, them movies are a hoot! Especially the one called Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). It’s got Harrison Ford, and he’s a handsome fella, even if he’s a bit old now. He goes on all sorts of adventures, fightin’ bad guys and lookin’ for treasure. Reminds me a bit of that Mummy Returns, all that runnin’ around and escapin’ from danger.
- Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
See, all them Indiana Jones movies, they’re all about adventurin’. Just like The Mummy Returns. They go to all sorts of far-off places, findin’ old things and gettin’ into trouble. Good clean fun, mostly, except for maybe that heart-rippin’ out part in Temple of Doom. That was a bit much, even for me.
Looking for More Mummy Trouble?
Now, if it’s specifically mummies you’re after, well, there ain’t a whole heap of movies about them, not good ones anyway. But there’s that one called The Scorpion King (2002). That fella, The Rock, he’s in it. Big fella, muscles everywhere. It’s connected to them Mummy movies, kinda like a side story. Not as good as the Brendan Fraser ones, if you ask me, but it’ll do if you’re missin’ them mummies.
And then there’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). Brendan Fraser’s back in that one, and Maria Bello plays his wife this time, not Rachel Weisz. It’s alright, I guess, but it ain’t as good as the first two. They go to China this time, and there’s a dragon mummy, which is kinda neat, but it just didn’t have the same magic, ya know?
Why Some Mummy Movies Work and Others Don’t
I heard tell they tried to make another Mummy movie a few years back, in 2017, with Tom Cruise. But it wasn’t no good. Folks didn’t like it. I reckon it’s because they messed with the characters too much. And the story wasn’t as good. See, what made them Brendan Fraser movies work was that they had heart. You cared about them characters, even when they were runnin’ away from giant scarab beetles. And they were funny too! That’s important, ya know? Gotta have a few laughs with your scares.
Where to Find These Movies
Now, where can you find these movies? Well, they’re all over the place these days. You can find ‘em on them streaming services, like Netflix and Amazon. Or you can rent ‘em from that Redbox thingy, if they still got those around. Or you can even buy ‘em on them shiny discs, DVDs they call ‘em. I still got a whole bunch of them, even though my grandkids say they’re old-fashioned.
So, to sum it all up, if you want movies like The Mummy Returns, you gotta look for adventure, maybe some mummies, and definitely some laughs. Stick with them Mummy movies with Brendan Fraser, and don’t forget about Indiana Jones. Those are good ones, the kind of movies you can watch with the whole family, even your old grandma like me. And that’s all there is to it! Now go on and have yourself some movie fun!
