Okay, so I was scrolling through Twitter the other day, and I saw this post about Tommy Lee, the drummer from Mötley Crüe. The tweet was talking about how much money he has, and I was like, “Damn, I wonder how accurate that is?” So, I decided to do a little digging of my own.
First, I opened up my browser and typed “Tommy Lee drummer net worth” into the search bar. A bunch of results popped up, naturally. I clicked on a few of the top ones, just to see what the general consensus was. Most of the sites listed his net worth somewhere in the ballpark of $70 million.

Then, I thought to myself, “Where is this money even coming from?” I mean, I know he was in Mötley Crüe, and they were huge, but $70 million is a lot of dough. So, I started looking into his career a bit more. Of course, there’s the Mötley Crüe stuff – album sales, touring, merch, all that jazz. They were one of the biggest bands in the world for a while, so that had to be a significant chunk of change.
But then I remembered he also did some solo stuff and was in that band Methods of Mayhem. I dug into those projects a little. He probably made a decent amount from those, but I’m guessing not as much as the Mötley Crüe money. He also did some producing and other music-related things, so that likely contributed.
My Findings
After looking around a bit, I realized that most of his income probably came from the Mötley Crüe days. Makes sense, right? They were massive. But he’s also done a lot of other stuff over the years, so it’s likely a combination of things.
So, is Tommy Lee really worth $70 million? It seems pretty plausible. I mean, I didn’t do any serious financial analysis or anything, but based on what I found, it sounds about right. He’s had a long and successful career in music, and that kind of success usually comes with a pretty big bank account.
