Okay, so, today I tried to get into the whole “Maria Reyes Freedom Writer” thing. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey.
First off, I did some digging around to see what this was all about. Turns out, it’s related to some kind of writing freedom, a concept that was pretty interesting. I read a bunch of articles and watched a few videos. It took me a good few hours just to get a basic understanding of what people were talking about. I found myself going down some serious rabbit holes about mental health and the effect of AI, and even the upcoming election. Crazy stuff!
Then, I tried to put it into practice. Started by just, you know, writing whatever came to mind. No filters, no second-guessing. It was weird at first, to be honest. I’m so used to overthinking everything I write, making sure it’s perfect. Letting go of that was tough.
Here’s what I did:
- Wrote without stopping. I set a timer for, like, 30 minutes and just wrote. Didn’t matter if it made sense, I just kept going.
- Didn’t edit. This was the hardest part. I wanted to go back and fix things so badly, but I resisted.
- Read it out loud. After the timer went off, I read what I wrote out loud. It was a mess, but there were some cool ideas in there, buried under all the junk.
- Did some research on other topics that came up. I noticed I kept writing about nature and losing species. So, I did a little digging on that. Turns out, it’s a pretty big deal, and we should all be paying more attention.
I kept at it for a few more rounds, trying different things each time. Sometimes I’d focus on a specific topic, other times I’d just let my mind wander. It was a real mix of emotions – frustration, excitement, confusion, you name it.
Honestly, I am pretty sure I was up half the night thinking about this. My sleep schedule is all messed up, which isn’t great for my immune system. I’ll have to make sure to work on that.
By the end of the day, I felt like I had made some progress. I realized that there is no time to try out new things. I mean, I had some good sentences come out of me. It wasn’t easy, and I definitely have a long way to go, but it was a start. I think there’s something to this whole “freedom writing” thing. It’s like, unlocking a part of your brain you didn’t even know was there. Still, the actual “Maria Reyes” part, I don’t understand yet. I guess that will be for another day.
It is a good lesson on how we can put the courage to try new things in our lives.
So, yeah, that was my day messing around with “Maria Reyes Freedom Writer.” It was messy, it was challenging, but it was also kind of awesome. I’d recommend giving it a try if you’re feeling adventurous.
