The After Reviews: Good, Bad, or Ugly? Find the Truth Here!

Okay, so I finally got around to watching “After.” I’d heard some buzz about it, mostly that it was based on a popular fanfiction novel, and honestly, I was curious. Plus, I needed something to watch during my lazy Sunday afternoon.

I started by searching online to get the basic plot. It is about a girl named Tessa Young, who’s starting college, and a mysterious bad boy, Hardin Scott. Sounds familiar, right? Kind of like one of those guilty pleasure movies that you know might not be critically acclaimed but are still fun to watch.

I found where to stream it and settled in. The movie opened with some narration about life-defining moments. Nice touch, I guess. Then, we’re introduced to Tessa, played by Josephine Langford. She’s portrayed as the innocent, good-girl type, ready to start her college life. She meets Hardin, who’s got that whole brooding, bad-boy thing going on, and of course, sparks fly.

As the movie progressed, I noticed the storyline felt pretty predictable. Girl meets boy, they clash, they get closer, secrets are revealed, drama happens. You know the drill. One thing I did appreciate was Josephine Langford’s performance. She was pretty good in the role, even if the character felt a bit cliché. And there’s no actual nudity in the movie.

Highlights

  • Visuals: The film actually looked pretty good. It’s visually appealing.
  • Josephine Langford: She did a decent job with the material she was given.

By the end, I felt like I’d seen this story a million times before, but with different names and faces. It was entertaining enough to keep me watching, but it didn’t really leave a lasting impression. In the end, I finished the movie, and it was an okay way to spend a couple of hours, but I doubt I’ll be thinking about it much afterward.

After watching “After,” I felt a bit of a void. I thought I might explore more movies in this genre and began searching for similar films. This led me to watch “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”.

So, that was my experience with “After.” A predictable but somewhat enjoyable movie. It was not the best movie ever, but certainly not the worst either.
