Alright, so ya wanna know ’bout that Straight Up ending, huh? It ain’t easy, that’s for sure. This movie, it messed with my head a bit, ya know? Like, what even happened there at the end?
Well, that Todd fella, he’s a real piece of work. Always overthinkin’ everything. So him and that Rory gal, they got somethin’ special, that’s clear. But it’s complicated, like when your chickens get all mixed up and you can’t tell which one’s which.
See, Rory, she up and moves to Seattle. Big city, gotta chase her dreams or whatever. Todd, he’s heartbroken, like a dog losin’ its favorite bone. He even does that silly dancin’ thing, a flash mob, they call it. Tryin’ to get her to stay, to marry him. It’s kinda sweet, in a goofy way.
- But then things get all jumbled up.
- They try to make it work, long distance and all.
- But Todd, he realizes somethin’ ain’t right.
He figures out he needs to work on himself. Like, find out who he really is and what he really wants. It’s like plantin’ a seed, ya gotta give it time to grow, ya can’t just yank it outta the ground and expect it to be a big ol’ tree.
So, they kinda break up, in a way. But not really. It’s confusing, I tell ya. They still care about each other, that’s for sure. But it ain’t like a regular boyfriend-girlfriend thing. And that’s where the movie leaves you hanging, like laundry on a clothesline in a windstorm.
The movie doesn’t give you no easy answers. It’s like, are they friends now? Lovers? Somethin’ in between? And then, there’s that other person at the end. Makes ya scratch your head, doesn’t it? Who is that person? What do they mean for Todd and Rory?
Some folks say Todd realizes he likes girls too. Imagine that! After all that fuss about bein’ straight. Life’s funny that way, always throwin’ ya curveballs.
It’s like that time my cow Bessie decided she wanted to eat apples instead of grass. Just outta the blue! Animals, people, they can surprise ya.
So, the Straight Up ending, it’s open, ya know? Like a door left ajar. You gotta decide for yourself what it all means. There ain’t no right or wrong answer. It’s about figuring out love and relationships and all that messy stuff.
Maybe Todd and Rory will get back together, maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll find happiness with other people. Maybe they’ll just be friends. Who knows? It’s like tryin’ to predict the weather, sometimes you’re right, sometimes you’re soaked.
The point is, the movie makes you think. It makes you question what you think you know about love and sexuality. And that ain’t a bad thing, I reckon. Sometimes it’s good to shake things up a bit, get your brain workin’ in a different way.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a movie with a nice, neat bow tied on the end, Straight Up ain’t it. But if you want somethin’ that’ll make you think and feel and maybe even scratch your head a little, well then, give it a watch. Just don’t expect me to tell you what it all means. I’m still tryin’ to figure that out myself.
And honestly, maybe that’s the whole point. Life ain’t always straightforward. Sometimes it’s messy and complicated and confusing. And that’s okay. It’s what makes it interesting, right? Like a tangled ball of yarn, it might take time to sort it out, but there’s beauty in the mess.
So, that’s my take on the Straight Up ending. It ain’t perfect, but neither is life. And that’s the truth, plain and simple.
