Okay, so the other day I was trying to find some new shows to binge-watch. My all-time favorite is “My Wife and Kids,” so I wanted something similar. Here’s how I went about it:
My Search Process
First, I fired up my laptop. I didn’t have any specific streaming service in mind, I just wanted to see what was out there.
I opened my browser and typed in “shows like My Wife and Kids” into the search bar. Just a simple, straightforward search, nothing fancy.
- The results page popped up, and I started scrolling.
- I saw some familiar names, shows I’d already watched or knew about. I ignored those.
- I looked for titles I didn’t recognize, and jotted a few down on a piece of paper.
- I paid attention to descriptions that mentioned “family sitcom,” “comedy,” or anything that sounded like it had a similar vibe to “My Wife and Kids.”
After that, I had a list of maybe five or six shows. My next step was to narrow it down.
For each show, I did a quick search to see where it was streaming. Some were on platforms I already had, some weren’t. That helped me eliminate a couple.
Then, for the remaining ones, I watched some trailers and clips online. This gave me a better feel for the humor and the overall tone of the show.
One trailer got my attention by how similar the humor felt.
Finally, I ended up choosing one show that seemed promising. I added it to my watchlist, and I’m planning to start watching it tonight!
