Hey there, y’all! So, you’re lookin’ for some good TV shows, huh? Like them Murdoch Mysteries, you say? Well, I ain’t no fancy TV critic or nothin’, but I watch my fair share of them stories on the telly. And let me tell ya, there’s plenty of shows out there that’ll keep you glued to your seat, just like that Murdoch fella and his mysteries.
First off, if you like Murdoch, you probably like a good puzzle, right? Somethin’ that makes you scratch your head and say, “Well, I’ll be darned!” There’s this show, see, called Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. It’s about this lady detective in Australia, real stylish and sassy, and she solves all sorts of crimes. It’s got that same kinda feel as Murdoch – you know, a bit old-timey, but with plenty of twists and turns. Plus, the clothes are somethin’ else! Always makes me wish I had a hat like that.
Then there’s Frankie Drake Mysteries. This one’s about a lady detective too, but she’s in Toronto, just like Murdoch! Set in the 1920s, it’s all about jazz and flappers and speakeasies, and Frankie’s always gettin’ herself into some kinda trouble. But she’s smart as a whip, and she always figures things out in the end. It’s got a bit more action than Murdoch, maybe, but it’s still got that same mystery heart to it.
- Another one you might like is Agatha Christie’s Poirot. Now, this fella, Poirot, he’s somethin’ special. Got a little mustache and a brain that works faster than a greased piglet. He’s always solvin’ murders, and he does it with style, I tell ya. Lots of fancy folks and big houses and all that. If you like Murdoch’s smarts, you’ll love Poirot.
- And don’t forget about Father Brown! He’s a priest, see, but he’s also got a knack for solvin’ mysteries. He’s real quiet and unassuming, but he sees things that other folks miss. It’s set in a small English village, kinda like my own town, though maybe a bit fancier. But the people are just as quirky, and the mysteries are just as twisty.
Now, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little darker, you might wanna try Ripper Street. It’s set in London, right after Jack the Ripper did his dirty work. The police are tryin’ to keep the peace, but there’s always somethin’ bad happenin’. It’s a bit grittier than Murdoch, for sure, but it’s still got that same historical feel and them clever detectives. Just be warned, it ain’t for the faint of heart!
Grantchester is another good one, if you don’t mind a bit of sin with your mysteries. It’s about a vicar and a police detective who team up to solve crimes in a small English village. But this vicar, he ain’t your typical goody-two-shoes. He likes his whiskey and his women, and he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. It’s got a bit of humor to it, too, which is always nice.
And if you want somethin’ a little different, try The Bletchley Circle. It’s about a group of women who worked as codebreakers during World War II, and now they’re using their skills to solve crimes. It’s smart and suspenseful, and it shows you what women can do when they work together. That’s somethin’ I can get behind! Them girls were really smart like that Murdoch fella and the lady detectives.
So there you have it, a whole mess of shows that are kinda like Murdoch Mysteries. Some are funny, some are dark, some are fancy, and some are down-to-earth. But they all got one thing in common: they’ll keep you guessin’ till the very end. And ain’t that what we all want from a good mystery story? Now, go on and grab yourself a cuppa tea, settle in on the couch, and get ready to be entertained! There’s plenty of detective TV series to watch. And if you run out of ideas, just come on back and ask me again. I always got somethin’ to say, even if it ain’t always the smartest thing. It’s all about the mysteries and figuring them out. Makes you think and sometimes they can be quite funny and some are like watching paint dry. But those Murdoch like series are great, keeps you on the edge of your seat. And they all got them mysteries that need solving, and that’s what keeps folks watchin’, ain’t it? Just good ol’ fashioned mystery fun.
