Grantchester is another good one, if you don’t mind a bit of sin with your mysteries. It’s about a vicar and a police detective who team up to solve crimes in a small English village. But this vicar, he ain’t your typical goody-two-shoes. He likes his whiskey and his women, and he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. It’s got a bit of humor to it, too, which is always nice.
And if you want somethin’ a little different, try The Bletchley Circle. It’s about a group of women who worked as codebreakers during World War II, and now they’re using their skills to solve crimes. It’s smart and suspenseful, and it shows you what women can do when they work together. That’s somethin’ I can get behind! Them girls were really smart like that Murdoch fella and the lady detectives.
So there you have it, a whole mess of shows that are kinda like Murdoch Mysteries. Some are funny, some are dark, some are fancy, and some are down-to-earth. But they all got one thing in common: they’ll keep you guessin’ till the very end. And ain’t that what we all want from a good mystery story?
