Well, hey there, y’all! Let’s gab a bit about them movies, you know, the ones like that there Garfield. That fat cat, always eatin’ and sleepin’. If you like that kind of stuff, maybe you’ll like some other things too. I ain’t no fancy movie expert, mind you, but I know what I like, and I reckon some other folks might like the same.
So, you seen that Garfield movie, the one from back in 2004? Yeah, that one. Well, some folks say if you liked that, you might also like that “Alvin and the Chipmunks” movie from 2007. Them little singin’ chipmunks, always causin’ trouble. And then there’s that “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” from 2008. Animals talkin’ and doin’ all sorts of crazy things. It’s all a bit silly, but sometimes that’s what you want, ain’t it?
Now, I heard tell there’s a whole bunch of movies like that Garfield one. Someone said somethin’ about 78 of ’em! Can you believe that? That’s a whole lotta movies. They got all sorts of lists, see? Some folks make these lists, puttin’ movies together that are kinda similar. Like, if you like one, they figure you might like the others. Makes sense, I guess.
- They got movies on somethin’ called Netflix.
- Then there’s iTunes, whatever that is.
- And Amazon, too. They sell everything these days, don’t they?
It’s like this, you got a movie you like, say it’s that Garfield. You type the name in, and boom! They show you a bunch of other movies that are kinda the same. It’s like magic, but it’s just them computers doin’ their thing. Smart little fellers, them computers.
Now, there’s another Garfield movie, from 2006, called “Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties”. If you liked that one, they say you might like the first Garfield movie, the one from 2004. Or maybe that “Surf’s Up” movie from 2007, about them surfin’ penguins. I ain’t seen that one, but penguins surfin’? Sounds kinda goofy, don’t it?
But let’s talk about that new Garfield movie, the one that just came out. Or maybe it’s comin’ out soon? I ain’t too good with keepin’ track of time, you know. Anyway, they say it’s got some funny parts, and the kids will probably like it. But it’s also got a bunch of stuff they call “product placements”. That’s when they show you things they want you to buy, like toys and snacks and such. And they say there’s some parts that are kinda scary, which is strange for a movie about a lazy cat who loves lasagna.
They say this new Garfield is gettin’ into all sorts of trouble, way more than you’d expect. He ain’t just sittin’ around eatin’ lasagna, that’s for sure. He’s schemin’ and gettin’ into fights, all sorts of slapstick stuff. Now, I don’t know about you, but that ain’t the Garfield I remember. But hey, maybe it’s still good. I reckon I’ll watch it when it comes on TV. I ain’t payin’ no money to go to the theater, that’s for sure.
Speaking of old movies, you ever heard of “Citizen Kane”? That’s a real old one, from 1941. Some folks say it’s the best movie ever made. I ain’t seen it myself, but they say it’s real important. It’s about some rich fella, and it’s kinda sad, I think. But that ain’t got nothin’ to do with Garfield, does it? Just goes to show you, there’s all sorts of movies out there.
Anyway, they say they’re gonna make another Garfield movie after this new one. A sequel, they call it. I don’t know what it’ll be about, or who’ll be in it, but I reckon it’ll be more of the same. More lasagna, more sleepin’, more trouble. And that’s just fine with me. Sometimes you just want somethin’ simple and silly to watch, you know? Somethin’ that don’t make you think too hard. Somethin’ like Garfield.
