Okay, so I’ve been meaning to find some new shows to binge, and I kept hearing about “One Day at a Time,” but then I realized there are, like, two versions. And I wanted more stuff like it, you know, that same vibe. So, I started digging, and here’s what I did.
My Little “Shows Like” Quest
First, I jumped on Google, obviously. I just typed in “shows like One Day at a Time” and a bunch of stuff popped up. Lots of lists, you know the kind.
Then I opened a few of those articles and started skimming. I didn’t want to read a whole essay, just get the gist of the recommendations. I made a quick list in my notes app of the shows that seemed interesting.

- I quickly jotted things down.
- I marked shows I had already watched.
- I highlighted anything I thought had the vibe.
Next, I went to a couple of streaming sites – you know the big ones – and searched for the shows on my list. I wanted to see if they were even available where I am. No point getting excited about something I can’t watch, right?
I read a few of the descriptions and even watched some trailers to see if they grabbed me. Some were a definite “no,” but a few looked promising. It takes time to really see.
I also checked out some reviews, but I mostly focused on the user reviews, not the critics. Sometimes regular people have better insights, you know? More relatable takes. I wanted to find something that was good, but also, something that was like the show I was thinking about in the first place.
I Finally I picked a couple that seemed like they might fit the bill – family-focused, funny, maybe a little heartwarming – and added them to my watchlist. Trial and error, my friends. That’s how you find the good stuff!
Honestly, I probably spent a good hour or two on this whole process. Could have been longer. But hey, now I have some new shows to check out, and hopefully, I’ll find my next binge-worthy obsession. Wish me luck!
