Okay, so, I’ve been working on this project, trying to track down all the filming locations for the movie “Collateral.” It’s been quite the adventure, let me tell you.
I started by doing some digging online. I found out that most of the filming took place throughout Los Angeles. Not surprising, right? It’s a classic LA movie. They used a bunch of different spots, like the Los Angeles International Airport and Koreatown. They even shot some scenes in Pico Rivera.
Then I got this idea to reach out to local government offices and film commissions. You know, the folks who deal with this kind of stuff. I figured they might have some insider info on potential locations. They actually can be helpful. Also, I checked out some location scouting websites. You can find listings of available locations offered to filmmakers, pretty cool, right?
Major Discoveries
One big one was Paramount Ranch. I mean, this place is legendary! It’s in the Santa Monica Mountains, near Agoura Hills. It has this old Western town set that’s been used in tons of movies and TV shows since the 1920s. Turns out, it wasn’t used in Collateral, but I added it to my list of cool places to check out anyway.
I also learned that they used several historic neighborhoods in Central LA for the scenes where the cops are chasing the Nite Owl suspects. We’re talking about places like Angelino Heights, Lincoln Heights, and Koreatown. Oh, and the Victory Motel! Turns out, that was one of the few sets they actually built for the movie.
Results
Here’s where I ended up:
- Los Angeles County: A lot of the key scenes in “Collateral” were filmed here. I mean, it’s LA, so it makes sense.
- Downtown LA, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, etc: I found tons of other filming locations all over these areas. I mean, the list goes on.
It’s been a lot of work, but it’s been super interesting. I feel like I know LA a whole lot better now, just from tracing the steps of this one movie. And it’s cool to see how all these different places come together to create the world of the film.
So yeah, that’s my “Collateral” filming location project in a nutshell. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m still adding to the list. I think I’ll be exploring this for a while!
