Okay, so I’ve been getting a ton of questions about where they shot that movie, “Calm with Horses.” I’m a huge fan of the film, and since I’m a bit of a location scout myself (in my spare time, haha), I decided to dig in and figure it all out. Let me tell you, it was a bit of an adventure!
First, I watched the movie again, like, three times. I was pausing it, rewinding, and trying to catch any glimpse of a street sign or a landmark. My family thought I was losing it! But I was on a mission, you know?
My Research
- Started with the obvious: I went through the credits looking for any mention of filming locations. It mentioned County Galway and County Clare in Ireland. Okay, that narrowed it down a bit, but Ireland’s a big place.
- Then I hit up some forums: You wouldn’t believe the rabbit holes I went down. There were some hardcore fans out there who had some clues. Someone mentioned a pub scene being shot in a place called Kilkee.
- Google, my best friend: I spent hours on it, virtually driving around those areas, looking for anything that matched what I saw in the film. I felt like a real detective, let me tell you. Lots of dead ends, but I wasn’t giving up.
After days of searching, I finally felt like I had a good handle on things. I pieced together info from all over the place, compared screenshots, and even found some local news articles about the filming. It was like putting together a giant puzzle.
The Discoveries
- Kilkee, County Clare: Yep, that pub scene was definitely Kilkee. I recognized the coastline and some of the buildings. I even found the actual pub! They used it for exteriors and interiors. Pretty cool, right?
- Some small towns in County Galway: A lot of the driving scenes and those shots of the, uh, less-savory parts of town were filmed in these little villages in Galway. I won’t name them specifically, because, you know, privacy and all that. But they’re definitely recognizable if you’ve seen the movie.
- That gorgeous house: Remember that fancy house where Arm lives? I tracked that down too! It’s a private residence, so I obviously won’t say exactly where, but it’s somewhere on the west coast of Ireland. And let me tell you, it’s even more stunning in real life.
So there you have it, my friends. My deep dive into the filming locations of “Calm with Horses.” It took a while but I nailed it down, finally found all the key spots. I hope this was helpful to all you movie buffs out there. Now you can go on your own little pilgrimage and see these places for yourself! Trust me, it’s worth the trip. Just don’t go poking around private property, okay? Let’s keep it respectful, folks.
I hope you enjoyed this. It took a lot of time to search and record, but it was totally worth it, cause, I’m happy to share my passion for movie locations!
