Okay, so I’ve been on this HUGE binge-watching kick lately, trying to find something to fill the void after finishing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. You know, that perfect blend of action, sci-fi, and maybe a little bit of humor? It’s tougher than you’d think!
The Quest Begins
I started by hitting up all the usual suspects. I googled stuff like “shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “best superhero TV series.” You wouldn’t believe the number of lists I found! It was information overload.
I made a list—a physical, pen-and-paper list—of all the shows that sounded even remotely interesting. I’m old-school like that. My list, had the following shows:
- The Flash
- Arrow
- Supergirl
- Daredevil
- Jessica Jones
Diving In (and Sometimes Bailing Out)
Then came the hard part: actually watching them. I started with The Flash because I’d heard good things. I gave it a solid try, watching a few episodes, but it just wasn’t grabbing me. Too much… I don’t know… teen drama? It wasn’t what i was looking for.
Next up, I moved to watch Arrow. I watched all the episodes but the storyline just didn’t match up to that of Agents of shield.
I thought, Supergirl might match my expectations, I gave it a try, but felt it was more focused on kids. So, I moved on from this one, too.
I had my hopes high when I started watching Daredevil. I must say, the action was great, but I realized that the characters didn’t capture my interest like the Agents of Shield characters.
Finally I started watching Jessica Jones, the character seemed interesting, but I was unable to build the connection that I felt with Agents of Shield.
The Verdict (So Far)
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. I’ve discovered that finding a show that perfectly replicates the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. magic is nearly impossible. Each show has its own vibe, its own strengths and weaknesses. Still on the hunt, will update you guys, once I find the perfect one!
