Okay, so the other day I was in the mood for a good laugh, and what’s better than a goofy sports comedy, right? I re-watched “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” and it got me thinking, what other movies out there have that same kind of silly, underdog vibe? So I started digging around, and let me tell you, I found some real gems.
First, I made a list of what I loved about “Dodgeball”. It’s got that over-the-top humor, the ridiculous competition, and of course, a team of misfits you can’t help but root for. I figured any movie with those elements would be a good place to start. I searched for the keywords “movies similar to Dodgeball” to check what good movies I could find.
Then, I checked out some movie sites and forums where people were discussing this very topic. I saw a few titles that kept popping up: “Happy Gilmore”, “Anchorman”, and something called “Kingpin”. I jotted those down and kept looking.
I also found some lists of best comedy movies, not just sports ones, and added “Superbad”, “Get Hard”, and “Role Models” to my list. I mean, if I’m going for laughs, might as well explore all avenues, right?
My Watchlist
So, after all that searching and list-making, here’s what I ended up with:
- Happy Gilmore – I’ve heard this one is a classic, so it’s definitely at the top of my list.
- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy – People seem to love this one, so I’m curious to see what the hype is about.
- Kingpin – Apparently, it’s about bowling, which sounds random and potentially hilarious.
- Get Hard – This one looks like it has a similar kind of outrageous humor as “Dodgeball”, so I’m in.
- Superbad – Not a sports movie, but everyone says it’s a must-watch comedy.
- Role Models – Another non-sports one, but it looks like it has that underdog team element that I enjoy.
I’ve already started watching a couple of these, and so far, so good! It’s been a fun little project, and I’m excited to share my findings with you all. I’ll probably do some quick reviews as I go through the list. It’s always a good time when you stumble upon a bunch of funny movies, and I hope you might find some new favorites from my little experiment too! Stay tuned, folks!
