Okay, so I’ve been on this HUGE puzzle game kick lately, and of course, “The Room” series is like, the gold standard, right? But I’ve played them all, like, a million times. So, I went on a mission to find some good alternatives on Android. Let me tell you what I did.
First, I fired up the good ol’ Play Store. Just typed in “puzzle games,” “escape games,” that kind of thing. Lots of stuff popped up, a little overwhelming, to be honest.
Digging Through the Options
I started downloading a bunch that looked promising based on the screenshots and descriptions. I’m a sucker for good graphics, so anything that looked too cartoony or low-quality, I just skipped. My thinking was, if they didn’t put effort into the visuals, they probably didn’t put much effort into the puzzles either, you know?

- I tried a few “escape room” type games, but a lot of them were kinda…meh. Lots of hidden object stuff, which isn’t really my jam. I like puzzles that make you think, not just hunt for tiny pixels.
- Then I stumbled upon some games that were more about manipulating objects, kind of like “The Room.” These were more interesting!
My Recommendations
After playing what that seemed like a hundred games(give or take 90…), There is a game called “Machinarium” that got me * has a really cool, steampunk-ish art style, and the puzzles are all about figuring out how these weird contraptions *’s not a direct copy of “The Room”, It’s got its own thing going on, which I * gave me that same feeling of “Oooooh, I get it!” when you finally solve a tricky puzzle.
I also found “The House of Da Vinci”.This one is definitely aiming for that “The Room” vibe, with lots of intricate boxes and mechanisms. It’s a little bit more story-driven. I also like that this game has many series which I could spend more time playing.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure in the world of Android puzzle games. If you’re a “The Room” fanatic like me and looking for something new, give those a shot! But be warned, it’s a bit of a rabbit hole… you might end up spending hours like I did. But hey, at least your brain gets a good workout, right? And, no regrets.
