Alright, folks, let’s talk about TV shows, specifically shows that are kind of like “Veronica Mars”. I’m a huge fan of that show, the whole teenage detective thing, you know? So I really wanted to find other shows with a similar vibe.
First off, I did a bunch of searching online. I spent hours reading, I mean it, hours! I started by just typing stuff like “mystery TV shows like Veronica Mars” into Google. I also looked at forums, you know, places where people talk about their favorite shows. I even made a few posts myself, asking for suggestions. My search query is something like “Looking for a binge worthy TV show to watch. I’m looking for mainly mystery or crime with comedy. Something not too serious. I do also enjoy sc-fi and action. Bonus if it’s a female.”
I wrote down every recommendation that sounded interesting. Some of them were pretty obvious, like “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”. I mean, it’s a classic, right? Teen girl fighting evil, it’s definitely in the same ballpark. And then I found this old show called “Moonlighting” with Bruce Willis. It’s from the 80s, so it’s a bit dated, but it had this cool mix of mystery and comedy that reminded me of “Veronica Mars”.
Another one that popped up was “Dead Like Me”. I never knew about this show before, but people said it was pretty good, and it’s made by the same guy who did “Pushing Daisies”, which I loved! It’s a bit more on the supernatural side, but still with a young female lead and a kind of dark, quirky humor.
Then I stumbled on this show with this actress, Margo Martindale. She was in “The Americans” which was awesome. And in this show she plays the head of a crime family. Sounds pretty different from “Veronica Mars”, but I like the idea of a strong female character, and it seemed to have a good dose of mystery.

So, after all that digging, I ended up with a pretty solid list. I decided to share it here, ’cause why not? Maybe it’ll help someone else who’s looking for the same kind of show.
