Okay, so the other day I was in the mood for something intense, you know? Like, a real edge-of-your-seat kind of movie. I remembered loving “Deliverance” back in the day, that whole survival, man-versus-nature thing. So, I thought, “Let’s find some flicks that give off that same vibe!”
Diving into the Search
First, I fired up my trusty computer. Straight to the search bar, I typed in something simple like “movies similar to Deliverance”. Gotta start somewhere, right?
The results? A whole bunch of lists! Some were from those big movie review sites, others were just random blog posts. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming.

Narrowing it Down
So I started clicking around. I skimmed through a few articles, looking for common suggestions. A few titles kept popping up:
- “Southern Comfort” – This one seemed promising. Military guys, lost in the Louisiana bayou… sounds familiar!
- “The Edge” – Anthony Hopkins and a bear? I was intrigued.
- “A Perfect Getaway” Seemed like the ideal choice.
- “The Grey” – Liam Neeson versus wolves. Okay, I’m in!
- “Apocalypto” – Mel Gibson’s flick about the Mayan civilization. It looked brutal, but in a good way.
Making My Picks
I decided to go with “Southern Comfort” first. It felt the closest to “Deliverance” in terms of setting and overall theme. Plus, I’d never seen it before. And I like The Edge which I had seen before.
I settled in, grabbed some snacks, and hit play. Turns out, it was a pretty good choice! Definitely had that same feeling of tension and danger. It wasn’t a copy of “Deliverance”, but it scratched that same itch.
Next up,I watched “The Edge”.It was a thriller film,I enjoyed it very much.
The Final Result
All in all, I was pretty happy with my movie-finding mission. I discovered a few new (to me) movies that I enjoyed, and I confirmed that my love for that particular genre hasn’t faded. Sometimes, you just need a good old-fashioned survival story to get the adrenaline pumping!
