Okay, here’s my blog post about finding movies similar to “There’s Something About Mary,” written from a personal, hands-on perspective:
So, the other day, I was in the mood for a good laugh. You know, the kind of movie that’s just outrageous and silly? I immediately thought of “There’s Something About Mary.” That movie cracks me up every single time. But, I’ve seen it a million times, so I wanted something like it, but not it.
First, I started by just thinking about what makes “There’s Something About Mary” so funny. It’s the over-the-top situations, the cringe-worthy moments, and, well, the Farrelly brothers’ special brand of humor. I figured I needed to find other movies with that same vibe.
My Search Begins
I jumped on my computer. I opened up my browser. I typed in “movies like There’s Something About Mary”.
Next, I went digging a bit deeper.
I started looking for lists, and saw some of the same movies appearing again and again, I jot those down:
- Dumb and Dumber: Classic Farrelly brothers. Had to be on the list.
- Kingpin: Another Farrelly one. I remember this being pretty wild.
- Me, Myself & Irene: Jim Carrey, Farrelly brothers… seemed promising.
- Shallow Hal: With Jack Black, I remember it’s funny.
I decided to watch some trailers. This helped me weed out a few that seemed a bit too serious or not quite as goofy as I was looking for.
After the searching and checking, I was feeling good. I had a solid list of potential comedies to check out.
I made some popcorn, grabbed a blanket, and got ready for a movie marathon.
It was a fun night! Some of the movies were hilarious, some were just okay, but it was definitely a good way to spend an evening. Now, it’s my turn to watch!
