Okay, here’s my blog post about finding movies similar to “The Bourne Ultimatum,” written in a casual, personal style:
Alright, so I’ve been on a HUGE action movie kick lately, and naturally, I re-watched “The Bourne Ultimatum.” Seriously, that movie is a masterpiece of shaky cam and intense spy stuff. But then, I had that “what now?” feeling. I needed MORE movies like it. So I started digging, going down the rabbit hole of spy thrillers and action flicks.
First, I brainstormed what I loved about Bourne. It’s the fast-paced action, the smart plot (not too smart, just enough to keep you guessing), the international locations, and that feeling of a lone wolf against the world. So that became my checklist.
My Search Begins!
I hit up Google. It’s my usual strategy. My keywords were simple, such as “movies similiar to the bourne ultimatum”.
- Started with some obvious choices: Other Bourne movies! Duh. Even the one with Jeremy Renner (“The Bourne Legacy”) is pretty good, in its own way. It scratches a similar itch.
- Then I moved onto other franchises. The “Mission: Impossible” movies (especially the later ones with Tom Cruise doing insane stunts) definitely have that high-octane energy and global scale.
- Found another called “Jack Ryan”. It’s good.
I made a massive list. I’m talking, like, 20+ movies. Then, the real work started: watching trailers, reading reviews (just skimming, really, to avoid spoilers), and checking out those “if you like this, you’ll like that” recommendations on streaming services.
I narrowed it down, focusing on movies that seemed to have that “Bourne” DNA:
- Good reviews, I don’t like to waste time.
I’ve watched a good chunk of them so far. Some were total duds (won’t name names, haha), but a few really hit the spot. It’s been a fun little project, and honestly, it’s made me appreciate the “Bourne” movies even more. They really set a high bar!
