You know, that movie, “40-Year-Old Virgin,” it got folks talkin’. Reminds me of my nephew, bless his heart, couldn’t find a gal if she was sittin’ on his hat. Same kinda story, fella growin’ older, ain’t never been with a woman. Funny, ain’t it? How life turns out sometimes.
This movie, it ain’t just about the, you know, the “doin’ it.” It’s about findin’ someone, that special someone. Like how Andy, that fella in the movie, he meets Trish. Sweet girl, she is. Changes his whole life.
- Made me think of my own courtship, back in the day. Met my husband at a barn dance. He stepped on my toe, clumsy fella. But he had a good heart, just like Andy in the movie.
- Lots of laughin’ in this movie. Reminds me of sittin’ on the porch with my sister, gossipin’ and gigglin’ ’bout the neighbors.
Folks say there’s other movies like it. Movies about people feelin’ lost, then findin’ their way. Movies about lovin’ and laughin’. Heard tell of one, “Knocked Up.” Somethin’ about a fella gettin’ a girl pregnant, unplanned. Sounds like a mess, but I reckon it’s got heart, just like “40-Year-Old Virgin.”
Then there’s “Clerks,” somethin’ about workin’ in a store. Can’t say I understand that one, never worked in no store. But they say it’s funny, and about people findin’ their place in the world. Just like Andy.
People like them stories, stories about folks just tryin’ to get by. Don’t gotta be fancy or complicated. Just gotta be real. Like when Andy’s friends try to help him out, give him advice. Reminds me of my old friends, always stickin’ their nose in my business, but meanin’ well.
This “40-Year-Old Virgin” movie, it ain’t perfect, mind you. Some parts a little silly, a little raunchy. But at the end of the day, it’s about love and findin’ someone who makes you happy. And that’s somethin’ we can all understand, ain’t it?
Folks lookin’ for somethin’ similar, they want a laugh, sure. But they also want somethin’ that touches their heart. They want to see people grow, change, find love. Just like Andy.
Now, I ain’t seen all them other movies, can’t say for sure if they’re any good. But if they’re like “40-Year-Old Virgin,” they gotta have some good in ’em. Gotta have heart. Gotta make you laugh and maybe shed a tear or two. That’s what makes a good story, ain’t it?
So, if you liked “40-Year-Old Virgin,” maybe give them other movies a try. Might find somethin’ you like, somethin’ that makes you think, makes you feel. Just like Andy’s story made me think about my own life, and all the crazy turns it took.
