You know, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout movies about power and money the other day. Reminds me of them rich folks in the city, always chasin’ after more money, more power. Ain’t that somethin’? They got all the fancy things, big houses, fancy cars, but are they happy? I always wonder. Anyway, here are some movies about that very thing.
First one I heard about is called, uh, The Wolf of Wall Street. Sounds like a wild animal, don’t it? This one’s got that Leonardo DiCaprio fella in it. He’s a big shot, that one. And some other fellas named Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie. Seems like they got a whole pack of ’em in this movie. It’s about some stock-broker fella, Jordan Belfort, I think his name was. Heard he got real rich, lived the high life, as they say. Lots of money, I reckon. But then he got into trouble, doin’ things he shouldn’t ought to be doin’. Crime, they call it. Tsk tsk, money can lead you down a bad path, that’s for sure.
They say it’s a true story, too. Can you believe that? Real people actin’ like that. Chasin’ after money, gettin’ into all sorts of trouble. It’s like my old mama used to say, “Money is the root of all evil.” She was right, you know. This movie, it’s full of entertainment, I hear. Lots of excitement. But don’t go thinkin’ you’ll learn about proper finance from it. It’s more about the bad stuff, the ugly side of money. They call this fella Belfort a “crooked broker”. Sounds about right, from what I hear.
Then there’s another one called Wall Street. Sounds simple enough, right? This one’s got Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. They’re big stars, too, just like that DiCaprio fella. This one’s older, I think. They say it’s the best one about success and money. What is success, anyway? Is it havin’ a lot of money? Or is it somethin’ else? They say, “Every dream has its price.” Ain’t that the truth? You gotta give somethin’ up to get somethin’, that’s what I always say.
And there’s all sorts of movies out there. I heard some talk about adventure movies. Those are always popular. People like seein’ folks go on grand adventures. Then you got your action movies, with all the fightin’ and explosions. My grandson, he loves those. And then there’s those horror movies, full of scary stuff. I don’t like those much, give me the heebie-jeebies. Then there’s comedy movies, to make you laugh, and drama movies, to make you cry. Somethin’ for everyone, I suppose.

These movies about power and money, they show you the good and the bad. The glamour and the greed. It’s all about choices, I reckon. You can choose to chase after money, but you gotta be careful. It can lead you down a dark path. Just like that Jordan Belfort fella. He had it all, then lost it all because of greed. Remember my old mama’s words. Money ain’t everything. It’s important to have enough to get by, sure. But true happiness? That comes from somethin’ else. Family, friends, good health. Those are the real treasures.
These movies, they’re just stories, you know. But they make you think. What’s important in life? Is it the money? The power? Or is it somethin’ more? I think it’s somethin’ more. It’s about bein’ a good person, treatin’ others right, and bein’ happy with what you got. That’s what I think, anyway. Those Hollywood folks, they can make all the movies they want about rich people and their problems. But I’ll stick to my simple life. It ain’t fancy, but it’s good enough for me.
Movies about power and money are always a hot topic. People like to watch them rich folks get into trouble. Maybe it makes ’em feel better about their own lives. I don’t know. But I do know that money can’t buy happiness. It can buy you a lot of things, sure. But it can’t buy you love, or peace, or true friendship. Those things are more important than any amount of money.
These movies got lots of big names, big stars. Leonardo DiCaprio, that’s a name you hear all the time. And this other fella, Michael Douglas. They play these rich fellas in the movies. I wonder if they’re like that in real life? Probably not. It’s just actin’, after all. They say this “Wolf” movie, it’s real entertainin’. But it also shows you the dark side of money. How it can corrupt you, make you do bad things. That Jordan Belfort, he learned that the hard way.
It’s somethin’ to think about, ain’t it? All that glitters ain’t gold. You can have all the money in the world, but if you ain’t got your health, or your family, or your peace of mind, what good is it? I’d rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. These movies, they’re just stories, but they got a message. Be careful what you wish for. And remember what’s really important in life. It ain’t the money, honey. It’s the love.
