Alright, let’s talk about them TV shows, you know, the ones like that Veronica Mars. I watched that one, yeah, pretty good. But then it ended, like they always do. So, I was lookin’ around, scratchin’ my head, thinkin’, “What else is out there like that?” You know, somethin’ with a bit of sass, some mysteries, and a gal who ain’t afraid to stir things up.
First off, there was this show, Moonlighting. Older than dirt, I tell ya, from back in the eighties. But it had that same kinda spark, that back-and-forth talkin’ between the two main folks. They were detectives, see, solvin’ crimes and whatnot. Real charmers, both of ’em. Not exactly the same, mind you, but it had that… what do you call it… that chemistry. Yeah, that’s it.
- Moonlighting: Older show, but real snappy talkin’ and detectives solvin’ mysteries.
- Other shows: Lots of ’em try to be like Veronica Mars, but not all of ’em make it. Gotta have that special somethin’.
Now, a lot of folks, they go on about findin’ shows just like Veronica Mars. They call themselves “Marshmallows,” silly name if you ask me. But they’re lookin’ for the same things I am: smart talk, puzzles to figure out, and a bit of a young person fightin’ against the big shots. It ain’t easy, though. Lots of shows try to be clever, but they just end up confusin’ this old lady.
Some folks, they say look on Netflix or Hulu. Streaming, they call it. I ain’t too good with that newfangled stuff, but my grandkid showed me. There’s a bunch of shows on there, mysteries and such. But finding the good ones, that’s like findin’ a needle in a haystack, I tell ya.
One thing I liked about Veronica Mars was how they had one big mystery that went on all season long, but then they also had little ones in each episode. Kept things movin’, you know? And the funny bits, those were good too. Made you chuckle even when things were gettin’ serious. If a show don’t have a bit of humor, well, it’s just too gloomy for me.
This other show, they said it was similar, had that same kind of setup. Big mystery, little mysteries, and some jokes thrown in. I can’t remember the name now, my memory ain’t what it used to be. But it was about a young fella, I think, solvin’ crimes in his town. He wasn’t as tough as that Veronica girl, but he was alright.
Veronica Mars, she was on that CW channel, or somethin’ like that. They canceled her, can you believe it? Said not enough folks were watchin’. Then they brought her back for a bit, then gone again. That’s how it always goes, they get you hooked and then they pull the rug out from under ya.
I heard tell that one of the fellas from the show, he wanted to do more. Even wanted to bring back a character that died. Sounds like a soap opera to me, but hey, if it keeps the story goin’, I ain’t complainin’. Just give me somethin’ good to watch, somethin’ that makes me think and keeps me entertained. That ain’t too much to ask, is it?
So, if you’re lookin’ for shows like Veronica Mars, good luck to ya. It’s a tough search, but there’s some good ones out there. Just gotta keep your eyes peeled and your ears open. And don’t be afraid to try somethin’ a little different. You might be surprised what you find. And if you find a real good one, let me know, will ya? This old lady’s always lookin’ for somethin’ new to watch.
Important thing is: Does the show have a good story? Do the people talk like real folks, even if they’re a bit smarter than the average bear? And does it keep you guessin’ till the very end? If it does all that, then it might just be worth your time. And if it ain’t, well, there’s always more shows to try. That’s the one good thing about all this newfangled technology, there’s always somethin’ new to watch.
In short: finding a show like Veronica Mars is tough, you need smart talk, twisty mysteries, and a main character you can root for. Maybe you find it in older shows like Moonlighting, or maybe in those new streaming thingamajigs. Just keep looking, and maybe you’ll get lucky.
