Well, howdy there! You wanna know about movies like that Lawrence of Arabia, huh? That long one, with the desert and all that sand. I reckon I can tell ya a thing or two, seen a fair share of pictures in my time, though I can’t always remember their names right off the bat.
Now, Lawrence of Arabia, that was somethin’ special. Big and grand, like they used to make ’em. They say there’s a bunch of movies like it, maybe 76 or somethin’, hard to believe there’s that many movies about anything, let alone somethin’ like that desert fella. Folks over in New Zealand, they keep track of these things, movie fans they are.
Some say that director, the fella who made Lawrence of Arabia, made other similar stuff. Akira somethin’-or-other, Japanese fella, I think. They talk about this movie, Seven Samurai. Don’t know much about samurais, but if it’s anything like Lawrence, it’s gotta be big, I reckon.
And then there’s this Dune movie. Heard folks talkin’ about it. Seems like it’s got sand too, and big adventures. They even made a second one, Dune: Part Two. Must be somethin’ to it if they made another one. And there’s this Hidalgo movie, about horses and deserts, I think. Sounds like it’s got that same kind of spirit, you know, big and wide open spaces.

I watched that Lawrence of Arabia again not too long ago. Hadn’t seen it since I was a young’un. Took forever, four hours they say, but it was worth it. They don’t make ’em like that anymore, all this CGI and whatnot, nothin’ like the real deal, I tell ya.
Now, there’s this director, Jaume somethin’-or-other, he makes thrillers, they say. One called Carry-On. Don’t know if it’s like Lawrence, probably not, less sand I reckon, but they say he’s good. But Lawrence, that was somethin’ else. That David Lean, he knew how to make a picture. Grand, they call it, and it sure was.
That Peter O’Toole fella, he played Lawrence. Good actor, he was. They say the movie is about his struggles, all that fightin’ and who he’s loyal to, Britain or them Arabs. And the desert, they spent a lot of time showin’ that desert, all pretty and scary at the same time.
And that Indiana Jones fella, they say his movies are kinda like Lawrence. Adventures and quests, they call ’em. That Last Crusade one, especially. I can see that, I guess. Always runnin’ around in them old places, lookin’ for things. But Lawrence, that was real, or least felt real, you know?
Lawrence of Arabia, it was more than just adventure, though. It was about a man, all mixed up inside. Fightin’ and whatnot, tryin’ to figure out who he was and where he belonged. That’s what makes it stick with ya, long after the credits roll. Not just the pretty pictures, but the story too.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ like Lawrence of Arabia, you gotta look for somethin’ big, somethin’ grand. Somethin’ with adventure, sure, but also somethin’ with heart. And maybe a little bit of sand. Can’t hurt to have a bit of sand.
They got all these movies on Netflix and Amazon, and iTunes too, I hear. All sorts of places to watch ’em. But if you ask me, nothin’ quite beats the real thing. That Lawrence of Arabia, that was a movie, that’s for sure. And there’s a book too, somethin’ about Seven Pillars, I can’t rightly recall. Lots of writin’ in that one, more than I’d care to read, I tell ya.
So there you have it, a few movies like Lawrence of Arabia, or so they say. You go on now and watch ’em yourself, see if they measure up. But don’t blame me if they ain’t quite as good as the real deal. Some things just can’t be beat, you know?
