Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this fella named Jeff Pelley, who’s been in the Indiana State Prison for a long time now. I reckon it’s been since 2006, so that’s nearly 20 years. I reckon most folks who end up in prison don’t get the chance to have a second go at things, but Jeff’s been lucky enough to keep tryin’. He’s been through a lot, and even though the world’s moved on, he’s still sittin’ there, hopin’ to fix what he says was a big mistake. Will the judge let him? Well, that’s up in the air, but it sure does make ya wonder what really happened all those years ago. It’s one of those stories you just can’t let go of, no matter how much time passes. I reckon we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
Some folks believe him, others don’t. But either way, Jeff Pelley’s story is far from over. And every time he gets a chance to tell it again, he gets a little closer to maybe settin’ things right. Who knows? Maybe someday, they’ll finally get to the bottom of what happened that fateful night in Lakeville.
