I was scrolling through my feed and boom, there were these pictures of J.K. Simmons looking absolutely ripped. I mean, the guy was 61 and in better shape than most 20-year-olds. I always thought he was a great actor, but seeing him like that added a whole new level of respect. The guy’s in phenomenal shape, and he’s not even aware he’s become an internet sensation.
I kept on researching, you know how it is when you get hooked on something. I read somewhere that during Zack Snyder’s original trilogy plans, Simmons was cast as Commissioner Gordon. That made sense, considering the timing. But what really intrigued me was that Simmons never seemed to show off his physique. It wasn’t like he was posting shirtless selfies or anything. And he is a celebrity, he could have done it. And that’s probably why people were so fascinated. He’s this accomplished Oscar-winning actor, and suddenly he’s also this incredibly jacked guy, but he’s so low-key about it.
