So, I was chilling the other day and it hit me, “The Usual Suspects” is such a mind-bender, right? I started craving for something similar, you know, movies that keep you guessing until the very end. I love those kinda films! Then I started my little adventure to find them.
First thing I did was hop on to some movie forums, reading through comments, seeing what other folks were saying. I noticed some users talking about unreliable narrators and plot twists, just like in “The Usual Suspects.” A movie named “American Psycho” kept popping up, got mentioned loads of times, so I made a note of that.
Then, I did a broad search on the internet, and oh boy, the results! I found there are, like, 66 films similar to “The Usual Suspects”! 66! It was a bit much, but hey, more choices, right?

I stumbled upon this website, I think it was called “Filmaffinity” or something? It’s like a social network but for movie nerds. You can rate movies, make lists, and write reviews. It was kinda cool seeing what other people who liked “The Usual Suspects” also enjoyed. I saw people talking about films with “twisting and turning” stories, and again, the whole “unreliable narrator” thing was a big deal.
I also found some lists of “best thriller movies,” and they were packed with all these classic films, some I’d seen, some I hadn’t. It was like a treasure trove of suspense and plot twists. One list, I think it was on a site called “Letterboxd,” had only 8 films, but it included gems like “Memento” and “Fight Club” alongside “The Usual Suspects.”
Then I got into some more specific recommendations. Someone suggested “Miller’s Crossing,” which is apparently a gangster film by the Coen Brothers. They said it’s got more subtle twists, but it’s really good. And there was this other one, “The Outfit,” which is more recent.
My Movie List
Here’s a sneak peek at my list after all this digging:
- American Psycho – Lots of folks said it’s got that unreliable narrator vibe.
- Memento – I’ve seen this one, and it’s definitely a mind trip.
- Fight Club – Another classic, and the ending? Whoa.
- Miller’s Crossing – This Coen Brothers one sounds intriguing.
- The Outfit – A newer film that got a shout-out.
So, yeah, that’s my little journey into finding movies similar to “The Usual Suspects.” It was fun, a bit overwhelming with all the choices, but I’ve got a solid list now. Time to grab some popcorn and start watching!
