Okay, so I was trying to find some movies that are similar to “Dawn of the Dead” because, well, I really dig that flick. So first, I tried to remember any other zombie movies I’d seen that felt kind of the same.
I remembered watching “28 Days Later” a while back. It’s a bit different, more fast-paced, but it definitely has that whole “end of the world” vibe. Then there’s “The Dead Don’t Die”, which is more of a comedy take on the whole zombie thing. It uses the zombies to make fun of, like, American culture and stuff. Pretty funny, actually.
After that, I figured I’d hit up the internet and see what other people suggested. I just searched for “movies like Dawn of the Dead” and a bunch of lists popped up. One of them mentioned “28 Weeks Later”, which is the sequel to “28 Days Later”, and the original “Dawn of the Dead” from 1978, which I guess makes sense, it is the original after all.
Then I looked at some streaming services to see what they recommended. Most of the suggestions were stuff I’d already seen or heard of. I did see something called “Peninsula”, which is apparently a sequel to “Train to Busan”. It’s about some guy who has to go back to Korea after the zombie outbreak to get a truckload of money. Sounds pretty wild. I am going to watch this one.
My List
- 28 Days Later
- 28 Weeks Later
- Dawn of the Dead (1978)
- The Dead Don’t Die
- Peninsula
- Train to Busan
Oh, and I found some other interesting tidbits while I was searching. Apparently, the people who made “Dawn of the Dead” had some issues with the movie rating and ended up releasing it unrated. And get this, there’s a zombie romance movie called “Warm Bodies” where a zombie falls in love with a human girl. Sounds kind of cheesy, but who knows, might be good.
Anyway, that’s how I spent my afternoon – digging up zombie movies. I’ve got a good list now, so I’m all set for a movie marathon this weekend. Hope this helps anyone else who’s looking for some good zombie action!
