Alright, so the other day I was really in the mood for something like “The Circle,” that 2017 movie with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks. You know, the one about the tech company that’s all about transparency but ends up being super creepy and controlling? Yeah, that one. I wanted more of that unsettling, tech-dystopia vibe.
Start My Search
First, I just started Googling. Simple stuff, like “movies similar to The Circle”. I figured I’d get some decent lists that way, and I did! I saw some recurring titles popping up, so I jotted those down.
I also jumped on a couple of movie forums. Sometimes you get better, more personalized recommendations that way. People were really helpful, throwing out suggestions I hadn’t even thought of.

My Watchlist
So, after all that digging, I ended up with a pretty solid list. Here’s what I was most excited to check out:
- “Ex Machina”: Okay, I’d heard of this one before, but never got around to watching it. It definitely seemed to fit the bill – AI, ethical dilemmas, a secluded tech genius… all the good stuff.
- “Black Mirror” (the series): This was a no-brainer. Each episode is like its own mini-movie, and so many of them deal with the dark side of technology. I knew I’d find some good ones there.
- “The Truman Show”:This one also examines the theme of constant surveillance.
- “Her” : This explores our relationship with technology and AI.
- “Gattaca”: This movie look at a future where genetic engineering.
My impressions
I’ve managed to watch a few of these so far. “Ex Machina” was definitely a winner – really intense and thought-provoking. And I started diving into “Black Mirror,” starting with the episode “The Entire History of You.” Wow, talk about disturbing! It really got under my skin, in a good way. It got the feelings which is similar to the circle.
I’m still working my way through the rest of the list,I think that watching “The Truman Show”, “Her” and “Gattaca” is really a good * I think I will get more similar feelings like “The Circle”. Overall, it’s been a fun (and slightly terrifying) movie-watching experience. If you’ve got any other suggestions, let me know!
