Okay, so I’ve been on this action movie kick lately, right? And “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” is one of my all-time favorites. Tom Cruise just kills it as this badass ex-military cop. But I watched it again last week and I was like, “Man, I need more movies like this in my life.” So I started digging.
First, I jumped onto Google, obviously. Typed in “movies like Jack Reacher Never Go Back” and got a bunch of usual suspects. You know, the “Mission: Impossible” movies, the “Bourne” series, stuff like that. I’ve seen most of them, but it was a good starting point. Then I hit up IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, looking at the “more like this” sections. That’s where I started finding some cool stuff.
I made a list of all the recommendations that looked interesting. Here’s what I came up with:
- “Taken” – Liam Neeson as a retired CIA agent hunting down his daughter’s kidnappers. This one’s a classic.
- “The Equalizer” – Denzel Washington being a total boss, helping out people in trouble. Super satisfying.
- “John Wick” – Keanu Reeves on a revenge mission. The action scenes are insane.
- “Safe House” – Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington in a spy thriller. I’ve heard this one has the same kind of intense feeling as Jack Reacher.
- “Man on Fire” – Another Denzel movie, this one’s about a bodyguard protecting a little girl. Sounds like it’s got some serious emotional weight.
I decided to start with “Taken” because, like I said, it’s a classic and I just need a good movie now. I watched it last night, and it totally lived up to the hype. Liam Neeson is just as awesome as Tom Cruise. Definitely a similar vibe to “Jack Reacher”. I powered through that film and have got a few more.
Next, I tried “The Equalizer”. Denzel was amazing, of course. The story was a bit different, but the action and the whole “one-man army” thing were totally there. Then I gave “John Wick” a go. Holy smokes, the action scenes were wild! It was more over-the-top than “Jack Reacher”, but still super entertaining.
I haven’t gotten to “Safe House” or “Man on Fire” yet, but they’re definitely on my list. I’m thinking “Safe House” might be next, since I’m in the mood for another spy thriller. Overall, I’d say this little movie hunt has been a success. I found some great action flicks to keep me entertained, and they all have that “Jack Reacher” feel I was looking for. You know, a smart, tough protagonist, lots of action, and a good story. It’s a winning formula.
