Alright, so I got really into this idea of finding movies similar to “The Holy Mountain.” You know, that crazy, surreal, and visually stunning film by Jodorowsky? I wanted more of that trippy, mind-bending experience.
First, I hit up Google, obviously. Just typed in “films like The Holy Mountain” and see what came up. I got a bunch of lists on different websites, some forums, and a few Reddit threads.
Digging Through Recommendations
I started making a list of the movies that kept popping up. Stuff like:

- El Topo – Figured this was a must, since it’s also by Jodorowsky.
- Santa Sangre – Another Jodorowsky, seemed like a good bet.
- Eraserhead – Heard this one was super weird, so I added it.
- Fellini’s Satyricon – I Saw this recommended a lot because of the bizarre visuals.
- Begotten – The description of this was terrifying.
I spent a good chunk of time just reading summaries and reviews. Some of these sounded pretty intense, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready for all of them. I skipped a few that sounded too…out there, even for me.
Watching and…Wow
I managed to find a few of these movies on some streaming services. I Watched “El Topo” first. And yep, it was just as wild as “The Holy Mountain,”. Then I watched “Santa Sangre” Great, So decided try it, and it was totally worth it!.
I also tried “Eraserhead,” and… wow. It was definitely an experience. Super unsettling, but also really fascinating in a strange way. I’m still not sure what to make of it, to be honest.
I Looked “Fellini’s Satyricon” and Begotten, and decided to put them on hold for now. Gotta work my way up to those, I think.
My Personal Takeaways
It is Not easy to find many films like “The Holy Mountain”, and my journey is just start, I will keep finding and watching.
So, that’s where I’m at with this little project. Still have a bunch more movies to check out, but I’m definitely enjoying the ride so far. It’s been a wild, weird, and sometimes disturbing journey into some truly unique cinema.
