Okay, so I was on a total 90s/early 2000s movie kick the other day, and “Cruel Intentions” popped into my head. That movie is just… chef’s kiss. The drama, the manipulation, the soundtrack! But I’d seen it a million times, so I wanted something similar.
I started by just googling “movies like Cruel Intentions”, I opened a bunch of browser pages and start to read it.
My “Similar Movie” Criteria
Here’s what I had in my head:

- Scheming and Betrayal: The more tangled the web, the better.

- Maybe a Little Dark?: I wasn’t looking for a rom-com, you know?

- Dangerous Liaisons (1988): Okay, duh. This is the original story that “Cruel Intentions” is based on.
- Valmont (1989):Apparently, this is another version of the same story.

My Final Result
I ended up watching “Dangerous Liaisons” first. And…wow. It was a lot slower-paced than “Cruel Intentions,” I see what the original is like, I decide to watch the other movie and drama series next time.
