Well, let me tell you ’bout this Charles Wheeler and Nichol Olsen thing. It’s a real mess, a real bad one. Don’t know all them fancy words, but I know what’s what.
This Nichol Olsen, she was a momma, see? Had them two girls, Alexa and London. Sweet little things, I bet. Just kids. And then, bam! They’re gone. Found dead. Shot. Can you imagine? A momma and her babies, just like that. Lord have mercy.
Now, this Charlie Wheeler fella, he was Nichol’s boyfriend. That’s what they say. Boyfriend. Hmmph. Some boyfriend he turned out to be. They say he was there the night before. The night before they found them all gone. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
- They say it happened in a big, fancy house. Anaqua Springs, they call it. Million-dollar house. Money don’t buy you happiness, and it sure didn’t save them, did it?
- Nichol was 37. Young. Too young to go like that. And them girls, just starting their lives. Makes a body sick, it does.
- Shot dead in the hallway. That’s what they say. In their own home. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Just awful.
Police got involved, of course. They always do when there’s trouble. And they started looking at this Charlie Wheeler fella. Seems like he was acting strange. Not talking right. Hiding things, maybe. I tell you, a guilty conscience is a heavy load. It’ll weigh you down, it will.
Folks in town, they’re all talking. Whispering behind their hands. You know how it is. Small towns, everyone knows everyone’s business. And this, well, this is big business. Big and bad. They’re saying all sorts of things about Charlie. About him being jealous, maybe. About him and Nichol fighting. Don’t know if it’s true, but where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire, that’s what I always say.
It’s a tragedy, plain and simple. A momma and her babies gone. And a boyfriend, maybe a killer, maybe not. Who knows? The police, they’ll figure it out, or so they say. But it won’t bring them back, will it? Won’t fill that hole in the hearts of the folks who loved them.
Makes you think, you know? About life. About how precious it is. And how quickly it can be taken away. One minute you’re here, laughing and loving. The next, you’re gone. Just like that. Snuffed out like a candle flame. And it is important to cherish your loved ones, and don’t take nothing for granted. That’s what I say.
This Charles Wheeler guy, I don’t know him from Adam. But if he did it, if he hurt that momma and her babies, then he deserves whatever he gets. Justice, they call it. I hope they find it. I hope they find him guilty as sin. Because no one, and I mean no one, has the right to take another person’s life. Especially not a momma’s and her babies. That’s just plain evil.
And what about them girls, Alexa and London? Who’s going to remember them? Who’s going to tell their stories? They were just kids, with their whole lives ahead of them. Dreams and hopes and all that. Gone. Just gone. It makes a body’s heart ache just thinking about it.
So, yeah, that’s the story of Charles Wheeler and Nichol Olsen. It ain’t pretty, it ain’t happy. It’s a mess, a tragedy, a sin. And it’s a reminder, a harsh one, that life can be cruel and unfair. And that sometimes, the people we think we love, the people we trust, can be the ones who hurt us the most. You have to keep your eyes open and your wits sharp about you.
I hope they get to the bottom of it. I hope they find out what really happened. And I hope, more than anything, that those girls, Alexa and London, and their momma, Nichol, find some peace. They deserve that much, at least. They all deserve better than what they got.
