Alright, alright, let’s talk about them movies like The Pale Blue Eye. You know, that one with the spooky stuff and the killin’. If you liked that, maybe you’ll like some others, eh? I ain’t no fancy movie critic, mind you, just tellin’ it like I see it.
So, The Pale Blue Eye, that was a real head-scratcher, wasn’t it? All that murdery business and them old-timey clothes. Reminded me a bit of other movies, ya know, the ones that make you think and maybe jump a little. If you’re itchin’ for more of that kinda stuff, keep your ears open.
First off, there’s this movie called Knives Out. Came out a few years back, I think. It’s got detectives and killin’s too, just like The Pale Blue Eye. But it ain’t all gloomy and serious, it’s got some laughs too. You know, the kind where you chuckle a bit, not the belly-laughin’ kind. It’s about a rich fella who gets kilt, and everybody’s a suspect. Real twisty-turny, that one. Keeps you guessin’ till the very end, just like who left the gate open last night and let them cows out. They was everywhere, I tell ya, everywhere.
- Knives Out got detectives.
- It’s got killin’s.
- It’s funny, but not too funny.
- It’ll keep you guessin’.
Then there’s another one, The Raven. This one’s older, from 2012 I think they said on the TV. It’s got that same kinda creepy feelin’ as The Pale Blue Eye, all dark and mysterious. This one’s about Edgar Allan Poe, you know, that fella who wrote all them spooky poems. He’s tryin’ to catch a killer who’s usin’ his stories to do bad things. It’s a bit more horror-y, I guess you could say. Not for the faint of heart, you know. Gives you the shivers, just like seein’ a snake in the chicken coop.
Now, both of these movies, they got that thing The Pale Blue Eye has, that… what do you call it… atmosphere. Yeah, that’s it. They make you feel like you’re right there with them, in the olden days, with the fog and the gas lamps. And they all got that whodunit thing goin’ on, where you’re tryin’ to figure out who the bad guy is. It’s like tryin’ to find a needle in a haystack, but with more dead people.
The Pale Blue Eye, it’s a real looker, too. Them sets and clothes, they’re somethin’ else. Real fancy-like. And that gloomy scenery, it sets the mood just right. The old-timey look, the sets and costumes they add to the feeling of the movie for sure. You know, makes it feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Knives Out and The Raven, they got that goin’ for ‘em too, in their own ways. Knives Out is more modern, but still stylish, and The Raven is all about that old-timey gothic look. It’s like lookin’ at old pictures, but they’re movin’ and talkin’.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to watch after seein’ The Pale Blue Eye, give them two a try. They ain’t exactly the same, but they got that similar vibe, ya know? Detective stuff, killin’s, and a bit of a creepy feel. And they make you think, which is more than I can say for some of them shows on TV these days. Nothin’ but flashy lights and noise, if you ask me. Give me a good mystery any day. Just like figuring out who ate the last piece of pie, even though they said they didn’t. It was probably Old Man Johnson, that sneaky fella.
And let’s not forget, The Pale Blue Eye, that one’s got a bit of Edgar Allan Poe in it too. Not the real fella, but they talk about him and his stories. That’s kinda neat, I guess. Adds a little somethin’ extra. The Raven, well, that one’s all about him, so if you like that kinda stuff, you’ll like that movie. It’s like readin’ a book, but with more pictures. And Knives Out, well, it ain’t got no Poe, but it’s got its own twists and turns. Just like life, I reckon. You never know what’s gonna happen next.
So there you have it. A couple of movies like The Pale Blue Eye. Not perfect matches, mind you, but close enough. Give ‘em a watch if you’re bored and got nothin’ better to do. And if you don’t like ‘em, well, don’t come cryin’ to me. I just told you what I thought. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go chase them chickens outta the garden again. They’re worse than them movie killers, I swear.
In short, if you like the The Pale Blue Eye movie, you might like these too:
- Knives Out (2019)
- The Raven (2012)
They got the detective stuff, the killin’s, and that old-timey feel. Good enough for a watch, I reckon.
