Alright, so you wanna know about this Gregory Mordick fella, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it’s a long and messy story, like a ball of yarn all tangled up.
This Gregory guy, he was living up in Spokane, Washington, see? Big ol’ place, I hear. But back in the day, way back in 1983, somethin’ terrible happened down in Anaheim Hills, California. A young woman, Katherine Mordick, only 28 years young, got herself killed. Brutally murdered, they said. Real nasty business. And wouldn’t you know it, this Gregory fella, he was her husband at the time, though they were havin’ their troubles, like cats and dogs, I reckon.
- Katherine was found dead in her house, and let me tell you, it weren’t pretty. Folks started pointin’ fingers at Gregory right quick. But things weren’t so simple, no sir.
- The police, they poked around, looked at pictures, you know, the crime scene and all that. But back then, they just couldn’t pin it on him for sure. So Gregory, he went on with his life, moved up to Spokane, probably thinkin’ he got away with it.
But this story, it ain’t over yet. Years went by, like water under the bridge. Twenty-seven years, to be exact. Can you believe it? Almost three decades! And then, out of the blue, they started lookin’ at Gregory again. This time, though, things were different. They had new ways of lookin’ at things, science and such. I don’t rightly understand it all, but seems they found somethin’ they missed before.
So, in 2008, they hauled Gregory in, right there in Spokane. He was an old man by then, 64 or 65 years old. Imagine that, livin’ with somethin’ like that hangin’ over your head for all them years. They dragged him back to California, and let me tell you, it was a big to-do. They had another trial, a second go-around. And this time, the jury, them twelve folks, they said he was guilty. Guilty of first-degree murder, they said. That means he planned it all out, see? Not just some accident, no sir.
So, where is he now, you ask? Well, after they found him guilty in 2010, they put him away, locked him up good and tight. He’s gotta pay for what he did to that poor Katherine. Justice, they call it. Took a long time comin’, but it got there in the end.
It just goes to show you, you can’t outrun your past, no matter how far you go or how long you wait. Sooner or later, it’ll catch up to you. And that’s the truth, plain and simple, just like I told ya.
This whole thing, it reminds me of that time old man Jenkins’ prize-winning pig went missing. Took ’em months to find out it was the neighbor’s dog what done it. Sometimes, the truth takes a while to surface, but it always does, just like cream risin’ to the top of the milk jug.
Anyway, that’s the story of Gregory Mordick as best as I can tell it. A sad tale, it is, and a reminder that things ain’t always what they seem. And that’s all I got to say about that.
