Craving TV Shows Like The Mentalist? Here are Great Alternatives

Okay, so I’ve been on this HUGE kick lately trying to find shows that give me the same vibes as “The Mentalist.” You know, that clever, slightly quirky consultant solving crimes with observation and a bit of, well, mentalism? I loved that show!

So, I started my quest. First, I jumped onto Google, obviously. I just typed in something simple like “tv shows similar to the mentalist”.

My Search Begins

I scrolled through a bunch of list articles. Some suggestions were totally off, like, what were they even thinking? But a few names kept popping up.

Craving TV Shows Like The Mentalist? Here are Great Alternatives
  • “Psych”– This one was recommended a LOT. It’s about a guy who pretends to be psychic to help the police. Sounds promising, right?
  • “Castle” – A mystery writer teaming up with a detective. Okay, I can see the connection.
  • “Lie to Me” – This one’s about a deception expert. Intriguing!
  • “Monk”– this one appears on some artiles, the main role is a detective with brilliant mind.

Diving In

I decided to start with “Psych” because it seemed the most light-hearted and fun. I watched the first few episodes, and yeah, it’s definitely got that “Mentalist” feel, but with more outright comedy. The main character, Shawn, is hilarious, pretending to have psychic visions, but it is all observation and deduction.

Next and by now, I watched “Castle”. The interaction of main roles are so great, a mystery novelist and a NYPD detective.

Then, I did’t watch “Lie to Me” completely, but I saw some clips from Youtube. What a fantasic show! The deception expert helps to solve crimes, which is amazing!

Finally, I tried “Monk”, he is more like “Sherlock”, another great show about detective.

The Verdict

So far, “Psych” is the closest I’ve found to scratching that “Mentalist” itch. It’s got the same kind of clever crime-solving, but with a goofier tone. “Castle” is also pretty good, and “Lie to Me” and “Monk” are on my list to watch next. It’s been a fun search, and honestly, it’s just reminded me how much I enjoy a good detective show!
