Alright, alright, so you’re lookin’ for movies like that Citizen Kane, huh? Heard folks talkin’ about it, sayin’ it’s some big deal. Well, I ain’t no fancy movie critic, but I’ve seen a thing or two in my time, and I can tell ya, there’s other good stuff out there, maybe even better, depends on what you like, I reckon.
First off, let’s talk about this Touch of Evil movie. Came out a bit after Citizen Kane, I think. It’s got that same kinda dark look, you know? Shadows and all that. Makes you feel like somethin’ ain’t right, somethin’s hidin’ just around the corner. Folks are whisperin’, secrets are bein’ kept. It’s a good one, keeps you guessin’ till the very end.
Then there’s this How Green Was My Valley. Now, that one’s a bit different. Not so dark and mysterious, but it’s got heart, ya know? It’s about family, about workin’ hard and stickin’ together. Some folks say it’s better than Citizen Kane, but I don’t know about that. Different strokes for different folks, I always say. But it did beat Citizen Kane for some big award, so it must be somethin’ special.
And if you like movies that make you think, movies with twists and turns, then you gotta check out some of them film noir pictures. Citizen Kane, some folks say it started that whole thing. Black and white, lots of shadows, detectives and dames, that kinda stuff. There’s a whole bunch of ’em, you could spend all day watchin’ and still not see ’em all. Go down to the video store – if they still got those – or scroll through your Netflix or whatever, you’ll find ‘em. They got all sorts of lists and suggestions these days, it’s mighty convenient, I tell ya.
Now, I ain’t gonna lie, some of these movies, they ain’t easy watchin’. They make you think, they make you feel, and sometimes they make you a little uncomfortable. But that’s what makes ’em good, see? They stick with you long after the credits roll. They make you think about life, about people, about the world around you.
- Touch of Evil: Dark and mysterious, lots of shadows.
- How Green Was My Valley: About family and hard work, a real tearjerker.
- Film Noir: A whole bunch of movies like Citizen Kane, black and white, detectives and dames.
And don’t forget, there’s all sorts of places to find these movies now. You got your fancy websites and apps, your streaming services, all that jazz. Back in my day, you had to go to the picture show, or wait for it to come on TV. But now, you can watch just about anything you want, whenever you want. It’s a whole new world, I tell ya.
But no matter how you watch ’em, the important thing is to find movies that you enjoy. Movies that make you think, movies that make you feel, movies that stay with you long after you’ve seen ’em. And if you like Citizen Kane, well, there’s plenty more where that came from. Just gotta look around a little, that’s all. You might even find somethin’ you like better, who knows? And if you don’t like any of them, well, turn off the TV and go for a walk. Fresh air never hurt nobody.
So there you have it. Some movies like Citizen Kane. I ain’t sayin’ they’re the best, and I ain’t sayin’ they’re for everyone. But they’re worth a look, I reckon. And who knows, you might just find your new favorite movie. And if not, well, at least you tried, right?
And remember, movies are just stories. Some are true, some are made up, but they all tell us somethin’ about ourselves, about the world around us. So keep watchin’, keep listenin’, and keep learnin’. That’s the best advice I can give ya. Life’s too short to waste it on bad movies, so find the good ones and hold on tight.
And one more thing. Don’t let nobody tell you what you should and shouldn’t like. If you like a movie, you like it. And if you don’t, you don’t. That’s all there is to it. Don’t let them fancy movie critics tell you what to think. Make up your own mind, that’s what I always say. And if you end up liking some old black and white movie better than some newfangled thing with all the special effects, well, good for you. You got good taste, I reckon.
