Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to check out this place in Clarksville, TN, right? It’s called the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center. I heard it’s pretty big, like the second-biggest general museum in Tennessee or something. So, I finally made the trip last weekend.
I started by doing a little bit of research, because I wanted to see what this place actually has to offer. After that, I checked their opening hours, fees, and some reviews from other people. Everything looked great, so I decided to go there.
First off, I drove to Clarksville. It wasn’t too far, just a straight shot down the highway. Got there in about an hour, no biggie. Parking was easy, they’ve got a decent-sized lot right out front. Oh, and I also noticed there’s another spot called Dunbar Cave nearby. I heard good things about it too, so I made a mental note to hit that up later.
Anyways, I walked into the Customs House Museum, and it’s pretty impressive, I gotta say. They’ve got all sorts of stuff in there. I saw some exhibits, and man, it’s huge! It’s like 35,000 square feet of stuff. They’ve got history stuff, art stuff, you name it. There’s this cool old train engine inside, which is wild. They’ve even got stuff for kids, so it’s good for the whole family, I guess.
I spent a good few hours just wandering around, checking everything out. I learned a lot of cool stuff about the history of Clarksville and the surrounding area. It’s a well-maintained building. After the museum, I felt like exploring some more, so I decided to go to Dunbar Cave.
So I drove over to Dunbar Cave State Park. It’s not far from the museum, just a short drive. Let me tell you, this cave is massive. They offer guided tours, which is cool. The guide was super knowledgeable and told us all about the history and the formations inside. It’s a really awesome experience, walking through those huge caverns. I also saw some people playing mini-golf there, which looks like fun.
- Drove to Clarksville
- Visited the Customs House Museum

In Conclusion
Overall, it was a really fun day. I saw some cool stuff, learned a few things, and just had a good time exploring. If you’re ever in Clarksville, I’d definitely recommend checking out both the Customs House Museum and Dunbar Cave. They’re both worth a visit, for sure. It’s like a two-for-one deal, and you won’t regret it. Especially if you’re into history or nature, or both!
If I had to recommend some things to do in Clarksville, I’d say: Dunbar Cave, the Customs House Museum, The City Forum, Splat That!, Fort Defiance, and DD Mini Golf. Those are some of the best spots, from what I saw and heard.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Clarksville’s got some neat places to check out. Just make sure you plan ahead a little, and you’ll have a great time. That’s what I did, and it worked out pretty well for me.
