Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about movies, the kind that make your hair stand on end, you know? Like that High Tension flick. Yeah, that one. Scared the bejesus outta me, it did. But I like that kinda stuff, gets the blood pumpin’. So, if you’re like me and enjoy a good scare, here’s some movies you might wanna check out. They ain’t all the same, mind you, but they got that somethin’ somethin’ that makes ’em… well, you’ll see.
First off, they say there’s a whole bunch of ’em, like, eighty movies or somethin’ that are kinda like High Tension. Don’t know if I believe that, but hey, who am I to argue? They got all sorts, horror, thrillers, that kinda thing.
One movie they talk about is Paranormal Xperience. Sounds spooky, huh? They say it’s horror and a thriller, so you know it’s gonna be one of them edge-of-your-seat kinda deals. Then there’s Wolf Creek. Now that one, that one sounds like somethin’ out in the sticks, you know? Like where the wolves howl and nobody can hear ya scream. Probably got some blood and guts in it, that one.
- Paranormal Xperience (2011) – Horror and thriller, they say. Might keep ya up at night.
- Wolf Creek (2005) – Horror, too. This one sounds like trouble, the kind you find in the middle of nowhere.
Now, they got these things called Netflix and iTunes and Amazon and Disney, whatever those are. Fancy city folk stuff, I reckon. But they say you can find movies on there, movies that are like High Tension. One movie, they say, is about some patient deaths, and they think some colleague did it. Sounds messy, don’t it? Like somethin’ out of a soap opera, but with more… well, you know… dead people.
Then there’s this movie called Livid. They say it ain’t as gruesome as some others, but it’s still good. Whatever gruesome means. Probably means bloody and nasty, I guess. If you want somethin’ like Frontiers or Texas Chainsaw, and funny too, well, they say you might like this Livid one. Frontiers and Texas Chainsaw? Now those sound like somethin’ else! Chainsaws and frontiers… sounds like a wild west horror show.
High Tension, though, they say the endin’ ain’t so good. Ruins it a bit, apparently. But if you like that kinda movie, they say you might like them French Extreme Horror movies. Sounds fancy, huh? “French Extreme Horror.” They got names like Martyrs, Inside/A L’Interieur, Frontiers again, and Calvair. Don’t know what them words mean, but they sound scary enough. Probably got lots of… you know… the red stuff.
They got thousands of movies on this Netflix thing, they say. And some of ’em are real good, real popular. They call it “top movies with the highest Tomatometer scores.” Tomatometer? What in tarnation is a Tomatometer? Sounds like somethin’ a farmer would use, not somethin’ for movies. But hey, if it says a movie’s good, maybe it is.
Then they got spy movies. Now, I like a good spy movie. They got suits and stunts and explosions. Like that fella, James Bond. Heard he’s quite the ladies’ man, that one. And he always gets the bad guys. Good for him, I say. But these other spy movies, they try to be like James Bond, but sometimes they just ain’t got that… oomph, you know?
And they got new movies too, all the time. One’s called Rebel Ridge. Don’t know nothin’ about it, but it’s new, so maybe it’s good. Or maybe it ain’t. You never know with these newfangled things. And then there’s His House, from 2020. Now that ain’t so new anymore, is it? But they mention it, so it must be somethin’. Maybe it’s spooky, maybe it’s got some thrills. Who knows?
So, there you have it. A whole bunch of movies that are kinda sorta like High Tension. Some scary, some bloody, some with spies, some new, some old. Take your pick, I say. Just don’t watch ’em alone at night, unless you’re brave. And if you are brave, well, good for you. Me? I like to have a cushion to hide behind, just in case. You never know when somethin’s gonna jump out at ya!
