Best Movies Similar to A Few Good Men: Legal Dramas & Military Thrillers

Alright, alright, listen up, y’all! We gonna talk about them movies, yeah, the ones like A Few Good Men. You know, that movie with Tom Cruise? Yeah, him, the fella who runs around a lot. That movie, it got all that court stuff, and them soldier boys, and that Jack Nicholson fella yellin’ “You can’t handle the truth!” Scared the bejesus outta me, that did. But it was good, real good.

So, you wanna watch somethin’ like that, huh? Somethin’ with all that lawyerin’ and fightin’ for what’s right, or what they think is right, anyway. Well, lemme tell ya, there’s a bunch of ’em out there. They ain’t all the same, mind you. Some are better than others, like them tomatoes in my garden. Some are big and juicy, some are just… meh.

One movie they say is real good is called To Kill A Mockingbird. Now, I ain’t never seen a mockin’bird, but this movie, they say it’s about this lawyer, and he’s gotta defend this black fella. Back in the old days, things were rough, real rough, for them folks. This lawyer, he’s gotta fight against everyone, it seems. Sounds kinda like that A Few Good Men movie, with that Tom Cruise fella fightin’ against them big shot generals, eh? But this one, To Kill A Mockingbird, it’s more about folks bein’ mean to each other ’cause of the color of their skin. That ain’t right, no sirree.

Then there’s this other one, 12 Angry Men. Now this one, it ain’t got no soldiers or nothin’, but it’s all about that courtroom drama. Twelve fellas, all stuck in a room, gotta decide if this young fella’s guilty or not. And let me tell ya, they argue and shout and sweat somethin’ fierce. Reminds me of that time down at the town hall when they were arguin’ about where to put the new water tower. Lord, that was a mess! Anyway, this movie, it shows you how hard it is to decide if someone’s done wrong. And it shows you that sometimes, you gotta stand up for what you believe in, even if everyone else is against ya.

  • You got your courtrooms, yeah.
  • You got your fightin’ for what’s right.
  • You got your people yellin’ at each other.

They call these things “military courtroom dramas” or just plain “courtroom dramas” I reckon. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it just means movies about lawyers and soldiers and trials and all that stuff. And there’s a whole bunch more, not just them three I told ya about. There’s this one called Erin Brockovich, about a lady who fights for folks who got sick from bad water. And another one called Stillwater, I hear that’s good too. Never seen ’em myself, mind you, too busy watchin’ my chickens and whatnot.

Movies about lawyers and soldiers and courts, they all kinda the same in a way. They show you people fighting for what they believe in. They show you that sometimes the truth ain’t so easy to find. And they show you that sometimes, even when you’re scared, you gotta do what’s right. Just like that Tom Cruise fella, standin’ up to that Jack Nicholson, even though he was sweatin’ bullets. That’s what makes a good movie, I reckon. Somethin’ that makes you think, somethin’ that makes you feel, somethin’ that makes you wanna stand up and cheer, even if you’re just sittin’ in your own living room.

So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to watch, and you like them movies like A Few Good Men, go on and try some of them I told ya about. You might like ‘em, you might not. But that’s the way it is with everything, ain’t it? You gotta try things to see if you like ’em. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
