Alright, so you wanna know about movies like that “The Dictator” one, huh? I ain’t no fancy movie expert, but I watch my fair share of things on that TV thingy. Let me tell ya, there’s a whole bunch of ’em, maybe even 65, like someone told me. Don’t ask me how they know, maybe they got some fancy machine countin’ ’em all.
Now, this “The Dictator” movie, it’s about this fella, a dictator, you know, the bossy kind. But it’s funny, not like that serious news stuff. It’s got that Sacha Baron Cohen guy in it, he’s always doin’ crazy things. I saw him in somethin’ else, but can’t remember what it was now. Old age, you know, makes your brain all mushy.
Some folks, they say there’s this other movie, “The Great Dictator”, made a long time ago, with Charlie Chaplin. I heard he’s funny too, but it’s a different kind of funny, more… I don’t know… old-timey? They say he plays this barber, looks just like that dictator fella, you know, with the mustache and all. Sounds kinda silly, but I guess people liked it back then.
You can find these movies on all them fancy places, like Netflix, and that iTune thing, and Amazon, too. My grandkids, they got all that stuff. Me? I just stick to my old TV, simple and easy. But they show some of these movies on regular TV channels too, so you don’t need all that fancy stuff if you don’t want it.
There’s this website, they call it “Letterboxd”, or somethin’ like that. Sounds like a box full of letters to me! But it ain’t, it’s got all these movies listed, people votin’ on ’em, tellin’ you if they’re good or not. Another one, “Filmaffinity”, they do somethin’ similar, I think. All this internet stuff, it’s too much for my old head. But the grandkids, they seem to know how to use it.
Then there’s this other dictator movie, they say it’s from 1935, a British one. But the one we’re talkin’ about with that Cohen fella, that’s from 2012. See, they keep makin’ these dictator movies, must be somethin’ about them that people like, even though dictators ain’t exactly good folks, ya know? Always bossin’ people around.
- One movie they told me about, “Moon Over Parador”, it’s a comedy too. Sounds like it’s about some actor pretendin’ to be a dictator. That Dreyfuss fella is in it, I think I’ve seen him on TV before. He’s got those big eyes, always lookin’ surprised. This one, they say, it’s real funny, lots of laughs. I like laughs, who doesn’t like a good laugh?
- They also said that “The Dictator” with Sacha Baron Cohen, it ain’t based on a book, not really. Some folks thought it was, somethin’ about a king, but it wasn’t true. Hollywood, they always makin’ stuff up, ain’t they?
- If you want to find more movies like this one, I guess you gotta do some searchin’. Ask your grandkids, they’ll know. Or just type stuff into that Google thingy, it seems to know everything. Just be careful, there’s a lot of junk on there too.
Anyway, that’s all I know about movies like “The Dictator.” There’s probably more, but I ain’t seen ’em all. I gotta go make some supper now, my stomach’s rumblin’. Hope you find somethin’ good to watch, somethin’ that’ll make you laugh. Lord knows, we all need a good laugh these days.
