Okay, so the other day I was in the mood for something like “The Butler,” you know, that movie with Forest Whitaker about the guy who worked at the White House forever? I really dig that kind of historical drama, especially when it touches on big social issues. So, I decided to find some similar flicks.
My Search for Movies Like ‘The Butler’
First, I fired up my * go-to move is usually just to google stuff.
I typed in “movies similar to The Butler”. I scrolled through a bunch of lists, and I mean, a bunch. Some suggestions were pretty obvious, others were way off.
I jotted down a few titles that seemed promising, mostly focusing on movies that:
- Were based on true stories, or at least felt really authentic.
- Dealt with the Civil Rights Movement or that general time period.
- Had strong Black leads and focused on their experiences.
Then, I checked out some trailers on YouTube. It gives a way better feel for a movie.
After all that digging, I narrowed it down to a handful of movies. It will be a good start for me.
