Okay, so I’ve been on this kick lately, re-watching all those mystery-thriller movies, you know, the ones with hidden clues and ancient conspiracies. It all started when I re-watched “Angels & Demons” the other night. That got me thinking, what other movies capture that same vibe? So, I started digging.
My Movie Hunt Begins
First, I made a list of what I loved about “Angels & Demons”:
- The historical mystery – all that stuff about the Illuminati.
- The fast-paced action, running around Rome.
- The religious symbolism and secret societies.
- The puzzle-solving aspect, trying to figure it out along with the characters.
Then, I started by brainstorming. I thought about “The Da Vinci Code,” of course, since it’s basically the same story, just a different setting. But I wanted more!

I jumped on to a movie forum, just some random discussion board. I straight up asked, “What are some movies like ‘Angels and Demons’?” And, you know what, people are helpful. A few suggested movies, which I put into my list.
Next step, I checked out some “best of” lists online. Stuff like “Top 10 Thrillers with Historical Conspiracies.” You know, those generic lists. I found a couple of titles there, that I added into my list.
Narrowing it Down
Now I had a pretty long list. So I started watching trailers. Gotta get a feel for the movie, right? If the trailer didn’t grab me, I ditched it. No time for boring stuff.
After the trailers, I read a few reviews. Not the super in-depth, spoiler-filled ones, just quick summaries to see if the plot actually matched what I was looking for. Did it have that historical mystery element? Were there secret societies or codes involved? If not, I crossed it off the list.
The Final Cut
Finally, I narrowed it down to a handful of movies that seemed to fit the bill. I watched the ones with good ratings first. My final watchlist? Oh, you want all of them in order, that’s difficult, because I discarded many of them, I think I can recommend National Treasure, it is quite good.
So yeah, that’s how I went about it. It was a bit of a treasure hunt in itself, finding these movies! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some conspiracies to uncover…
