Okay, so I wanted to share this experience I had the other day. I’m a big gamer, always have been, and I was on the hunt for this new game, Amber, that everyone’s been talking about. I figured my best bet was to hit up GameStop. I mean, they’re like the go-to place for this kind of stuff, right?
So, I started with a quick search online, just to see which GameStop locations were near me in San Antonio. Turns out there are a few, which was great. I found a bunch of addresses and phone numbers. One was at 1739 SW Loop 410, another at 6511 West Loop, and even one at 2310 SW Military Dr. They had a lot of shops in San Antonio, I saw one at 23002 US-281, it’s so far away from me.
I decided to call the one on SW Loop 410 first, just to see if they had Amber in stock and maybe get a price check. Dialed up 210-673-6000, and got some guy on the phone. Asked him about Amber, but, plot twist, they were completely sold out! Bummer, right? He did say they were expecting another shipment, but didn’t know when. That wasn’t very helpful, to be honest. I even asked him to introduce the other shop’s location and phone number. But, he didn’t know.
Not one to give up easily, I called the one on West Loop. Their number was 210-688-3163. This time, I asked about their hours too, just in case I had to go there in person. They had the game! But, get this, the price was higher than I expected. They also said that Amber is in short supply in their store, but I’m not sure, cause I didn’t ask more about it.
Check another shop.
And then I called the one on 2310 SW Military Dr, the number is 210-923-5548. I asked them about their stock and hours, and they said they are sold out. It’s very frustrating!
After calling a few stores, I felt pretty defeated. But then I remembered reading some reviews online about the location at 7635 NW Loop 410. A lot of people were saying good things about the staff there, how they were super friendly and knowledgeable. One review even mentioned how they hosted a Smash tournament, which sounded pretty cool.
At this point, I was like, “What the heck, let’s just go there and see what happens.” Drove over to the store, walked in, and it was packed! A lot of other people had the same idea, I guess. I finally got to talk to one of the guys working there, explained my situation, and he was super helpful. He checked their system, and even though Amber was technically sold out, he said he’d look in the back for me.
After what felt like forever, he came back out with a copy of Amber! Turns out, someone had pre-ordered it but hadn’t picked it up yet, so he sold it to me. Talk about a lucky break! I was so stoked. Paid for the game, thanked the guy like a million times, and headed home.
So yeah, that was my adventure trying to find Amber at GameStop in San Antonio. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but it all worked out in the end. Just goes to show, sometimes you gotta go the extra mile, or in this case, drive to a few extra stores, to get what you want. And hey, if you’re ever in San Antonio and need a game, maybe check out the GameStop on NW Loop 410. Those guys are awesome!
