This here thing about Edward June Harris Jr. Appeal, it’s a real mess, I tell ya. That Edward, he done some bad things, real bad. He got in trouble with the law, and now he’s trying to get out of it. Heard he was driving like a bat outta hell, nearly 100 miles per hour, tryin’ to get away from the police. Stupid, that’s what that is.
They caught him, though. Wakulla County Sheriff, they got him. Good for them, I say. He needs to pay for what he did. That poor Brittany Steier, she was just a young thing. He’s the father of her two babies, and what did he do? He killed her, shot her dead. Can you believe that? Breaks my heart, it does.
And this ain’t the first time he’s been in trouble, no sir. Six months before, he was threatening to kill her down in Sarasota County. He’s a bad egg, that Edward. Always has been, always will be. They shoulda locked him up then and thrown away the key. It’s a shame, a crying shame, what happened to Brittany.
- He was driving way too fast.
- He hurt that poor woman, Brittany.
- He had two kids with her.
- He threatened to kill her before.
They had a trial, a two-day thing. Judge Layne Smith, he was there. And the jury, they found him guilty. First-degree murder, that’s what they called it. Plus, child neglect, and running from the law, and having a gun when he shouldn’t have. He’s a convicted felon, ya know. Not supposed to have no guns. He’s in a heap of trouble. He killed that girl, and now he’s trying to appeal. That means he’s trying to get out of it. I hope it is not successful.
Edward M. Harris Jr., that’s his full name. He’s 35 years old. He messed up his life, and he messed up those kids’ lives, too. Now they ain’t got no mama. It’s just a sad, sad situation all around. This happened in 2020, if you can believe it. Time sure does fly, even when it’s full of bad news. Edward June Harris, he was a monster.
They got all kinds of papers down at the courthouse about this. Dockets, they call ’em. Lists of everything that happened in the case. If you’re nosy like me, you can go down there and look at ’em. Or maybe they got ’em online now. Everything’s online these days. This is in Florida, by the way. Second Judicial Circuit, they call it. I don’t know what that means, but that’s what they call it. Edward Harris, he’s from Florida.
This whole thing is just a mess, I tell ya. A real mess. That poor girl, Brittany. And those poor kids. I hope they got somebody to take care of ’em. And that Edward, he needs to stay right where he is, behind bars. He don’t need to be out here with decent folks. He is not suitable for living in society.
They got these things called “slip opinions.” I don’t rightly know what they are, but they put ’em out all the time, soon as they can after something happens in a case. You can look ’em up if you want. I don’t know why you would want to read the sad story, but you can. They are there to be read by everybody who wants to read them.
I hope that judge throws the book at him. He deserves it, that’s for sure. He took a life, and he needs to pay the price. It’s just a crying shame, the whole thing.
That Edward, he’s a bad one. A real bad one. I hope they keep him locked up for a good long time. He don’t need to be out here causing more trouble. He’s done enough damage already. This appeal thing, I hope it don’t work. He needs to stay right where he is. The appeal is just a waste of time and money.
It’s just a sad situation. A sad, sad situation. That poor Brittany. That poor woman didn’t do anything wrong. She had children with Edward Harris, and he killed her. It’s just so sad. This is such a cruel world, and Edward Harris made it even more cruel. What did she do to deserve such a fate?
