Okay, so I saw this thing, ActionGlow, on Shark Tank, and I was like, “LED lights for my bike? Sounds kinda cool, kinda extra.” But then I thought, “Hey, why not? Let’s make my night rides a little more… glowy.”
Getting Started
First, I ordered the ActionGlow kit online. It came in a pretty straightforward box, nothing too fancy. I unpacked everything – the LED strips, the battery pack, some zip ties, and the instructions. Honestly, the instructions were a little, uh, minimal. But hey, how hard could it be, right?
The Installation Process (aka, the Fun Part)
I grabbed my bike and propped it up. I decided to start with the wheels. I cleaned the wheel rims with some rubbing alcohol – gotta make sure those lights stick! Then, I carefully peeled off the backing of the LED strips and pressed them onto the rims. It took a little patience to get them lined up just right, but it wasn’t rocket science.

Next up, the frame. I wrapped the LED strips around the down tube and the top tube, securing them with the zip ties. I tried to keep things symmetrical, you know, for aesthetic purposes. I even added a little strip under my seat – extra visibility!
Powering Up
The battery pack was next. It’s this small, black box thing. I mounted it under my seat using some more of those trusty zip ties. I connected the LED strips to the battery pack – pretty simple plug-and-play situation.
Testing, Testing… 1, 2, Glow!
I flipped the switch on the battery pack, and BAM! My bike was suddenly a glowing masterpiece. Seriously, it looked awesome. The lights were super bright and colorful, and the kit even let me change the light patterns using a switch. I tested out all light models in my garage, and it works well!
The First Night Ride
I took my newly-glowing bike out for a spin that night. It was amazing! I felt way more visible to cars, and honestly, it was just plain fun to ride around with all those lights. It made my usual night ride feel like a party on * was definitely a head-turner.
So, that’s my ActionGlow experience. A little bit of DIY, a whole lot of glow, and a much cooler night ride. Would I recommend it? Totally! It’s not essential, but it’s fun, and anything that makes you more visible on the road is a good thing in my book.
