Okay, so I’ve been on this huge martial arts movie kick lately, and it all started with re-watching “Kung Fu Hustle.” That movie is just bonkers good, right? The action, the comedy, the completely over-the-top characters… I needed more. So, I started digging around to find movies that give off that same vibe.
The Initial Search
First, I hit up Google, obviously. I just typed in “kung fu hustle similar movies” and scrolled through the results. There were some of the usual suspects, like other Stephen Chow movies (which I’d mostly already seen, but hey, good excuse for another watch!).
Diving Deeper
But I wanted something beyond just Stephen Chow. So, I started looking at forums and Reddit threads. You know, places where real people talk about this stuff. That’s where I found some less obvious suggestions.
Compiling the List
- Shaolin Soccer: Okay, I’d seen this one, another classic by Chow.
- Checked out some older Shaw Brothers movies, which were a bit different, a bit more serious, but good action!
I watched them,I recorded my thoughts after each one, and adjusted as my preferences changed. I might watch the first 20 mins and be like, “nah, not for me”. Other times I would binge 3 in a row.
The Results(So Far!)
Honestly, it’s been a blast! I’ve discovered some awesome movies I never would have found otherwise.
