Okay, so today I wanted to try out this “Palm Court Langham Chef Dom” thing I’d heard about. I’m no food critic, but I do love a good meal and figured, why not document the whole shebang?
First things first, I had to figure out what this even was. A bit of Googling told me that Palm Court is a fancy restaurant at The Langham, a hotel, and Chef Dom is, well, a chef there. I guess he’s known for some special dishes. Okay, cool, sounds interesting.
Getting There and First Impressions
I booked a reservation – gotta do that, it’s a popular spot. Getting to the Langham was pretty easy. I just hopped in a cab, I’m not going to bother you with what road I took. I won’t lie, the hotel is posh. Like, seriously swanky. Palm Court itself is beautiful – all bright and airy, with these huge windows. I felt a little underdressed in my jeans, but hey, whatever.
The Food, Obviously
The menu was, admittedly, a bit intimidating. Lots of fancy words I didn’t understand. I ended up just asking the waiter what Chef Dom’s most popular dishes were. He recommended a few things, and I picked two that sounded good:
- Dish 1: Something with scallops and some kind of foam. I’m not even kidding, foam.
- Dish 2: A steak thing with fancy mushrooms and a sauce I couldn’t pronounce.
The scallop thing arrived first. It looked…interesting. Very artistic, I guess? The scallops were cooked perfectly, super tender. The foam? Eh, it was okay. Tasted kinda like the sea, which makes sense, I guess. Not bad, but not something I’d rave about.
Next up was the steak. Now this was good. Seriously good. The meat was cooked just how I like it, medium-rare, and it was so flavorful. The mushrooms were amazing, too, all earthy and delicious. And the sauce? Forget about it. I could have eaten a bowl of just that. I even used the bread to soak up every last drop. No shame.
Wrapping It Up
Overall, I had a pleasant time here. The atmosphere and customer service are the best.
So, was it worth it? Honestly, it was a bit pricey for what it was. The steak was fantastic, no doubt about it, but the scallop foam thing was just okay. I’m glad I tried it, it was a fun experience, and the atmosphere was definitely something special. But would I go back regularly? Probably not. I can get a really good steak at my local steakhouse for half the price, you know? Still, it was a fun day out, and I got to try something new. And hey, now I can say I ate food made by Chef Dom at the Palm Court!
